Why doesn't the USPS or ebay send an email about underpayment

Checking payments this morning, got hit with 2 under payment charges. They said a package that weight 3 oz actually was 1 lb 3 oz, NO WAY, not for a 1/8 oz fishing lures and weight less then 2 oz total with the envelope. Lucky me, had this problem years ago and saved the link to dispute it. BUT I got no email from ebay or USPS about the underage, I had to find it in my payments. Problem with that is, I may sell a dozen orders and wouldn't have seen it except its a slow day.

I call ebay, they said they don't send emails about underage and I told them they need to so sellers can dispute it. I couldn't even find a link to dispute it, she actually google it to find the link and told me USPS should have sent an email.  She did say UPS and FEDEX send emails, which I did get one from UPS 2 months ago

Anyone know if there's a place on USPS to request to get email's for under/overage. This is the 3rd one this year and I like to know when it happens. I thought I've seen over sellers say they got an email but I haven't.

That's why I posted, I knew she was wrong because sellers have got emails. I did not get one on my personal email or one from ebay, plus how would USPS get my email to send the notice to, my labels come from ebay.

Yea, ebay even says that lol, but no spam and don't have ebay blocked. Don't remember but last year I had another issue and ebay said check spam folder. I even searched my personal email settings, no blocked ebay addresses.

I actually saved a ebay paged from years ago for adjustment details and disputing them(what you have highlighted) its how I found a underage on a fishing reel, won the dispute. I tried to find it this morning without going to my saved page, its no where( or I couldn't find it) in the help section. The rep had to google to find the links.

Bottom line is I got no email, I got one from UPS 2 months ago about a double shipping charge, which was a hole new topic.(two months for ebay to disputed it refund me)

eBay does send messages concerning underpaid postage. I got one just yesterday or the day before.

If I haven't received one of those notices in a while, is it safe to assume i've had no errors?

No, I didn't get an notice and got hit by 3 underage.  Wastingtime101 first link is what I have saved, I check it at least twice a week, its how I found the 2nd underage from yesterday that I didn't even know was there, plus a fishing reel 2 months ago.

That label management page should be more easily accessible. Unfortunately it's only linked in 2 places. One is the email with cost adjustments. Two is this Seller Center page.

https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/shipping/faqs

That page can be found via the main Seller Center page about shipping, scrolling down to FAQs.

On that FAQ page go to:

Preparing shipments and determining shipping costs > Where can I find details about shipping cost adjustments?

As for not getting the email, I suggest clicking the ? icon on the bottom right of most any eBay page and select the option to file a tech report.

Re: Why doesn't the USPS or ebay send an email about underpayment

Ok, didn't find ebay block in my personal email but did find USPS blocked. Weird I've got emails from PO about tracing and find lost mail, even a insurance claim. BUT I use to get emails for putting in mail pick and email verify mail pick up that stopped about 2 yrs ago. I unblocked USPS, last night I got an email for pick up today and when she picked up this afternoon. Not that I want another underage but curious if I'll get an email now, people that got the email was it to personal or ebay account?

Re: Why doesn't the USPS or ebay send an email about underpayment

@tsme35

The message I received was from eBay, in my eBay messages (which also sends a message to my email address registered to my account), because I bought the shipping label from eBay, so they just used the original funding source.

I would not expect to receive any email from USPS unless you bought it directly from them and gave them some kind of email address and/ or payment method to keep on file.

that's what I would think, ebay rep said no, should come from USPS. Just a mess but I have the link to keep an eye on it

Re: Why doesn't the USPS or ebay send an email about underpayment

The rep is wrong. The email comes from eBay. eBay is the relay between you and USPS on cost adjustments. Just like the email would be from stamps.com or pirateship.com if the label was purchased through their platforms.

ebay reps frequently have no idea what they're talking about.

Re: Why doesn't the USPS or ebay send an email about underpayment

Well that didn't work I got ANOTHER underage yesterday, NO email from either. This is getting old, it's the 4th one I've got this year, more then the last 3 yrs put together. These are not even close to being off, NONE of the envelopes weigh more the 3 oz, 2 are for a pound over, yesterday saying it was 10 oz over. Now I have to figure who to call, the 1st 2 are nearing the 15 days dispute filing and still pending. I have a insurance claim file on a missing package going on a month and still pending.
