Been selling on eBay for 23 years without a single negative. Just had a case where buyer had item in their possession 10 days and then claimed it arrived damaged. Would not send pictures of damage or packaging. It is a baseball card which i am sure he damaged over the ten days he had it. EBay sides with buyer because i had a 14 day return policy taking the easy way out anyone else have this happen to them?

"i am sure he damaged over the ten days he had it."
Did you actually receive the item back or are you just guessing? I try to wait judgement until then.

You have chosen free returns. How can eBay not side with the buyer when you made that return policy part of the deal?
can you imagine buying something at a retail store that offers returns, then that store refusing to take anything back?

eBay will always side with the buyer in a NAD case whether the damage was before or after delivery. Best to have the buyer return it for a refund.

eBay say they support sellers but really don’t because corporate entities, like politicians, can and do lie. It is called PR and they hire professionals who consult with lawyers who then come up with phrases that can be defended in our courts, courts which are very, very friendly towards corporations. And of course the corporations finance the politicians and the world keeps going round and round. Or in the case of our country it continues its slow death spiral into chaos.

10 days, 14 days,,,,, truth is the buyer has 30 days to file a not as described case.
They have 14 days to return an item for any reason if your policy is 14 days return.

I get what u r saying, but realistically, your return policy (one of ebay's return policy choices) allows for this buyer to return the item. Wait to see what he returns b4 deciding what the situation is.
Also, if this is the only 'bad' return u've had in 23 years, you are ahead of most sellers by 100%, consider yourself lucky.
Good luck with this return that you get the same card that you sent in the same condition, otherwise you can deduct up to 50% of the selling price.

I totally Agree .
Ebay does not support sellers ,and i have had many issues when selling with unreliable buyers .
One case ,buyer bought and item from a long distance country ,and after 2 days that it was shipped and tracking was showing that the item was still at the airport he opened a not as described issue with ebay holding my funds.
What is ridiculous with this is that the item hasn't even left the airport, how can it be not as described?
Another case was when buyer opened an issue after the item was shipped , asking a return when i don't accept returns , claiming it was a mistake . Ebay didn't do anything .
You may send a mint vinyl record to a buyer , and buyer may claim anything in favour to him , with ebay asking the seller to print a label just because he says that it was not what he asked for (International orders ) .
How does ebay know if buyer is telling the truth ?Ebay doesn't know and it just supports buyer instead of the seller .
I can understand that there may be many sellers that may not send the item as described ,but this doesn't mean that buyer will always be in favour.
I have had buyers telling me to refund them or else they will leave negative feedback just because they have the power to do it .
I think that feedback from buyers should be reviewed carefully , and sellers should be able to leave negative feedback for buyers that are unreliable , so sellers know which buyers may be scammers, unreliable, and not faithful .
If feedback is reviewed from both sides , there may be a better outcome for what is happening .
There are many unreliable and scam Buyers out there that have to be stopped .
Buyers can do whatever they want in ebay ,and no one can stop them doing them .
Just to note , that i had a buyer that purchased an item from me , when i messaged him to inform him that it may have delays due covid , buyer told me "I am Patient , don't worry" ,after three days he opened a haven't received item issue, I added 10 times the tracking item where ebay had the issue still open , until buyer was just fed up with the issue and closed it .
buyer left negative feedback just because he thought that the item was shipped from his country and when he realised it he couldn't remove it .
When i contacted ebay about it , ebay just said "You should accept it "
Ebay never removed it .

Sellers on this board report getting a first negative here all the time.
Sellers on this board report that buyers claim an item is damaged all the time.
Sellers on this board report that buyers refuse to send photos all the time.
Sellers on this board say they suspect buyer of damaging the item all the time.
Seller on this board report that eBay takes the buyer's side all the time.

That's nothing! I had a customer wait 35 days after the date the item was delivered to claim it arrived damaged. They refused to send pics, refused to open a claim with PO and eBay forced me to pay to receive the item back and refunded the customer! I stopped selling for several years after that. eBay is a like all other monopolies, it's poorly run but the best game in town. They can do better, but choose profit over everything else.
