Why do I keep getting charges accrued for my buy it now listed item?

I'm selling 1 item and I keep getting pinged 8-10 dollars daily to keep it listed. I have it set to advertise and pay 13% when the item sells but it hasnt sold yet and the payments keep rolling in for over a month now. What is happening?

For over a month you have been being charged $8-10 a day, and the listing is still active?

There are different "promotion" options.

Could the wrong one have inadvertently been selected?

Sounds like you subscribed to Promoted Priority listings which is pay per click even if the item doesn't sell. You pay every time your listing gets clicked on. 
What you wanted was promoted listings General you pay when the item sells.

The first day I got charged $8-$10, I would have ended the listing immediately 😱

Thank you, this was it. I have no idea how this happened, I just listed it normally and put a % in the field at the bottom for when it sells to pay marketing fees. I never saw any option to start a campaign.

Item has been listed since November 16th.  Yikes that's 53 days ago.

At this point wouldn't the seller have to end the listing, make sure to untick any boxes that need unticking and start completely fresh? Even if they went in and unticked the boxes now, would that actually change anything for the listing now or any reinserting based off the original listing?
