I just recieved an email from a buyer stating she had recieved an offer for one of my items. The offer was good for one day and she was wondering if I would still honor it. I don't send offers and my listings are not set to accept or send offers. I just started listing on Ebay again after a long break. Is this something new Ebay is doing?

Was it actually money off or did the buyer see the $'s off for using Chime to pay and not having a Chime account was trying to get the same amount off not knowing the $'s off was covered by eBay not the seller?

If the buyer forwarded the offer or sent you a screenshot, can you post it here?
I'm curious as to what it said and am wondering if the buyer isn't fibbing about it.

She did not send a screenshot, so it is a possibility.
Thanks!

Was it an "email" or message thru eBay?

Did you ever see a message in your seller hub letting you know that you can send offers to interested buyers? And did you perhaps send offers in the past?
If so, the box to automatically send (future) offers may have been checked by default.

Yes she did but more often than you might think, people use the word email interchangeably with eBay messages.

I sell vintage on another site that occasionally has sent customers percentage off offers to use in any shop on the site, and this does not come out of the sellers profit. I have not been on Ebay for a while and thought maybe they had started doing something similar.

No, I checked the listing and the box was not checked.

Sometimes eBay makes changes and does things without so much as a whisper to sellers about it and sometimes they run secret "tests" on certain accounts and even the accounts affected are not privy to the test.
I don't know if your buyer was lying or if this is one of those unscrupulous (in my opinion) secret tests.
You're the first person I've seen post about it, but if we see more, then it's probably one of those "tests".

but if we see more,
@ltldpr
Actually, there have been quite a few posts about this. If the OP @indiana_collector EVER sent an offer, the part about "ebay sending offers automatically on your behalf" may have been set to the default of YES. One has to scroll down to see it, and it will apply to all BIN listings from that moment forward. OR
the buyer is simply making it up, or has the OP confused with some other seller.

OP has already verified that they do not have the box ticked for eBay to send offers on their behalf.
Plus, do those auto offers only last 1 day? The ones sellers send out last well over 1 day and there have been lots of posts about the extended time eBay added to the offer time limit.
There have NOT been other posts, that I know of, where the offer was only good for 1 day.

That could also be a possibility. I responded to her message but have not heard back.
