It is very Frustrating that it takes so long to get someone on the phone with EBAY. Not to mention impossible to Talk to someone from an American Call Center. The calls are often difficult to hear for several reasons. And often there are many things heard in the background. Are these Call Centers or Remote workers? I know many who will not use EBAY because of this issue. Even chatting with a live person who has broken english is very frustrating. Maybe i am the only one having this issue but i do not believe so. I do not remember EBAY having such a bad customer service issue 10 years ago.

The customer service is a crap commodity now. Probably going to end my 24 year account.
The american managers are racking in the buck, and the service sucks hard.

That bites that u want to stop using after so long. But i understand. I have been using for about 2 years but only for about a year more seriously. I have spoken to ONE American or at least one person that not only had an American accent but actually knew how eBay’s system worked. And she was helpful and felt bad that i got so much Wrong information. I certainly feel that Ebay no longer cares much about it’s sellers or buyers. But without us they have nothing. I am building my own site but it’s not meant to compete with ebay it is just for my own small hobby that i want to turn into a business. I will offer discounts when people buy directly off my site rather than using eBay. I think Ebay thinks it is too big to fail or be outdone but i do not think that is the case. I think the sellers could and should put pressure on ebay to fix their terrible customer service. I believe Getting the word out and making people aware of an issue is the first step. Maybe it’s wishful thinking but i do believe we can make a difference.

As a fulltime seller and part time buyer, I can't imagine having eBay call me back for something.
If I can give a detailed description of what problem I have or just a question, I can get the answer here.
If I can't solve the issue here then I leave a message to eBay thru the eBay Facebook page. There you can find USA based reps that actually have some authority.

Almost EVERY large entity has gone to 'offshore' CS. Blue Shield, Humana, Chase, Capitol One, Adobe...heck, Amazon did away with their Forum (coming soon- here to, my guess; after all- just an expense that does nothing in regards for the earnings of this entity).
It's just the way of the world.

Didn't eBay do massive layoffs a few months back?

US reps are presently available through their social media portals. It is a "chat" type service, but better than a chat or call back from the foreign based call center agents that basically have no authority to do much anymore other than tell what you want to hear instead of what you need to know.
Try one of these. Use the blue message button here:

They laid off about 1000 people - but they had hired about 700 the year before.

What is the number. I've been trying for awhile to speak to anybody at Ebay but keep getting the automated crap.

Ebay hasn't had a Call Center since they shut it down due to the Pandemic.
There are multiple ways to get in contact with Ebay and no good reason why you can't if you actually try to contact them. Some just throw up their hands and say they can't talk to anyone at Ebay without actually trying to get the correct information so they can do exactly that.
On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

When I've contacted the CS in recent times they have called me right back. I've gotten some really good support. So far no situations with a baby on the CS rep's lap like calls I've had with other companies. But one time I got a call center and it was very loud and people nearby were really yucking it up and I complained but there was no improvement. That is just unprofessional and puts Ebay in a bad light.

My favorite customer service background noise is ... crowing roosters.
