Today I got following popup

We recently reached out to you about a change in German VAT law and your need to identify as a business seller. Please upgrade your account to business in order to continue listing on the German site or items located in Germany.

I'm not from Germany, don't have Germany VAT Nr., registered in ebay.com, and many years don't use German site ebay.de,  not selling anything in German site, and not interested to sell in future too. Do you have any ideas, why I received this message, and how to resolve it without Germany VAT?

As i understand, we have to wait for few days, it should be an error on Ebay, hope they are going to fix.

In my case, automatically buyers from Germany could not buy anything and i have zero sales to German customers from the time that new rule appeared for Germany .

All this very strange...at this point any private seller on europe can sell on ebay...

from a few years german people can see listings but cant buy outside germany..

need to contact support to solve this..one by one all selllers on ebay europe...?😲

 since the new law in germany I have had this problem, I used to sell there, then this law came and I closed my shop there and continued on ebay.com or the American ebay, I have also been getting this message for a few days, even if you want to change your advertisement, that is not possible, ebay earns a lot from sellers. only they are very unfriendly, you can see that you also pay a fee on your shipping costs, it is only about them, to generate as much money as possible,
why don't you send email from their company, that this is a software problem, they see very well that this message is sent to thousands of accounts, so they hope that many will apply for a VAT number in Germany,

I live in the Netherlands, I really don't know how to apply for a VAT number, it is very complicated, I wouldn't want it anymore either,

I am a private individual, I have a very large collection on which I have already paid VAT,
but if you sell too much, you are suddenly a business seller in their eyes, that is really very crooked,

It seems from now on... private sellers cant sell or edit the active items...contacted ebay support and they claimed situation under checking ..will wait for their explanations for all this, will replay here how the things going...

dont want to bealive this is some issue need to solve seller by seller ...one by one.... will be a pain for years...

Not Solved yet for me, this was the answer from Ebay support :

Upon reviewing your account, I noticed that the issue has been present since 2021, which ideally should not have been a problem. Additionally, we have received similar reports from several members today who are also facing challenges when posting articles or modifying their existing posts. It appears that this may be a technical issue within our system.

as far as i can see i can't buy anything from you due to tax reasons but for  uk197 seems to be sorted.  as you say if they don't fix it in general it'll take ages.....

Probably better ideia is make contact with Ebay support, as more peolpe complains, probably faster will find solution...

I started a chat on Ebay support, after expose situation they sent to right department, then they sent me email... With the text posted before here.
