Why Does eBay Delete Sold History?

EBay deletes the Sold history past 90 days.

What's their rationale for this? Very frustrating.

Server space. If you cannot relist within 3 months you'll have to save your work on your own.

First, it is probably time consuming and expensive to maintain backward compatibility with data that is years out of date.

Second, eBay is slow enough when you search several billion listings. Just imagine if there were a trillion.

This is what I've always been told.  It is hardware related, not software.  It would take a tremendous amount of space to maintain all this information.

However with this said.  Ebay is going to have to come up with a way for all of us to be able to get our sales numbers off the site historically speaking so that we can reconcile numbers once we are in Managed Payments.  Since Ebay will reporting to IRS for what they process for us if we hit the thresholds, they also have to give us a way to pull the numbers off the site and reconcile.

There is a new report in the Seller Hub to help with this.  It does not go back to the first of 2019 but it has most of the year.

Solution to the issue of  wanting to keep  stuff forever>>>>>>>>>> just put it in your own garage or storage locker/barn/warehouse or load it on an electronic devise of your choosing.

Re: Why Does eBay Delete Sold History?

If server space were the issue, all my order history for the past three years as a buyer wouldn't be available to view in complete detail.

Re: Why Does eBay Delete Sold History?

PayPal is reporting to the IRS if sales are over 20,Ooo dollars and seller sold at least 200 items. Ebay is reporting the sales tax now to approximately 18 states. In July, it will be 21 states.

If you go to PayPal and click HISTORY , you should be able to see you4 past sales. I’m not sure how many years back you can check.

Not necessarily.  They have planned for this and have allocated the appropriate resources to accomplish this.  While purchase history is very important for buyers and can even promote the repurchase of items or the return to a particular seller.

But with that said, this has to change as I said earlier.  At least for sales history.  Listing going back more than 90 days something else and would require a whole lot of resources to store all that information by Ebay.

Sales tax and Federal taxes [IRS] are to COMPLETELY different things.

With the introduction of Managed Payments Ebay has NO choice.  Like PP, for those sellers that are part of MP, Ebay is REQUIRED to release 1099's for the sellers in MP that qualify to receive them.

You are blurring together two completely separate things.

Re: Why Does eBay Delete Sold History?

I was able to pull up my sold listings from January of this year, almost 5 months ago, without issues. Albeit most of the photos had to be replaced, but I was able to relist and sell similar with no other issues.

It used to be really 90 days that sold listings would be wiped off the face of the planet, but apparently not anymore?

hi, if you do not wish to deal with archiving the orders and using ebay's archiving routines i will suggest

- go to the all orders page once a month

- click the print button upper right above orders

- print all to a pdf file (i use cutepdf program)

- then remove all but current month's orders to archive

- this saves all orders on page in a searchable pdf file

- you can combine all pdf's for one year via free online pdf merge routines and have an instantly searchable pdf file on local media for your records
