Why Am I Being Sent to Collections??

Hi everyone. I had some difficult issues with a buyer the beginning of the year. She falsely claimed to not have received an item and I won the appeal. The issue went back and forth and she eventually filed a chargeback. I filed a claim with my bank and they protected me from the chargeback. Fast forward to today, eBay has sent me a few emails regarding a balance I have to pay to Global Collections. I’ve ignored them as I know I did nothing wrong in this situation and I am a victim to fraud. I’ve just received a email that they will progress the situation and send it to a debt collector. At this point, I have no idea what there is left do. Is there any contact information or a routine process  that I should go about? I’ve won every appeal and my bank has protected me but yet they want to send me to collections rather than the fraudulent buyer. Any advice or contact information would be extremely appreciated.

Why Am I Being Sent to Collections??

You seem to think I agree with what happened to the OP.  I've made no judgement one way or the other.  My judgement doesn't matter anyway.

You are assuming the OP was not able to respond to the buyer's Chargeback.  That is highly unlikely.  Now the OP may not have responded to it, but they likely could have.  Or maybe they did respond.  There would be no reason for Ebay to block the seller's ability to respond to the Chargeback.

I'm not assuming that Ebay did anything wrong or that the OP did anything wrong.  I simply went by the facts as the OP has presented on this thread and came to a conclusion.  You agreeing with me isn't important.  It doesn't change anything I've said.

This all appears to boil down to the OP going to their Bank and having them reverse the charge Ebay made to their  bank account to refund the buyer.  That action likely created this "BILL" that the OP is seeing.

Whoa, hold on. Lets not get into the trap you like to lay out, "You said I said this, and that's not what I said" business. That's old.

The OP SAID, they tried  responding to the chargeback case and they received an error page multiple times. Now, it IS possible they responded late, but they have said nothing to make me think they did. If they responded or TRIED to respond within their timeframe, then it's eBay's fault for their own broken system. A seller AT LEAST is allow the opportunity to respond. Does not mean they will win, and likely will not, but they have a right to respond.

Your "highly unlikely" comment does not hold water unless and until the facts of exactly how long they took to respond, comes to light. You may well be right, but you are making assumptions. Anyone who has sold here very long or sold much, knows the eBay platform is riddled with bugs and glitches. It's not beyond reason to think there COULD have been an issue that did not allow the OP to respond to the case. I think the vast majority of people would consider 500 bucks a lot of money.  This isn't a 20 dollar stamp we are talking about. Just eat it and move on might be correct, if everything was done properly on EVERYBODY'S side.

None of us know EXACTLY what happened, but it's common here for people to not read/comprehend what someone is saying either. People here make lots of assumptions without taking in all the information. Taking the OP at what they said, doesn't sound like the response to the chargeback was allowed. IF that is the case and the seller did not mess up, then this is not "all" their fault and eBay shares responsibility. If the seller messed up, well, it IS their fault.

You are assuming Ebay did something wrong.

I don't assume eBay did anything wrong. In fact I stated about the error page they received that  "If" the OP could prove this happened I am confident eBay would drop their claim for the $500.

"If" being the key word because "if" it can not be proven the claim will remain.  And yes, I understood the $500 the OP prevented eBay from taking or keeping out of their bank account was to reimburse eBay for the Chargeback they paid on the sellers behalf.

I do not understand why you think eBay has no control over a chargeback?  They control the information that they allow to the reply to the Chargeback request.  If there is no reply to the request then it will likely be decided in the buyers favor.

I never this before. Call them up and ask them what this means and why since you won the appeals.

the buyer may have filed a not received with their bank.    If it was Global you should have had verification that it was delivered.   If for some reason the item was not received ask the Postal service for GPS verification that is was delivered.  If it was stolen from the buyers porch- mailbox-etc.   You can't control that .

I would also talk to your bank about the situation about this collections.

After all these calls and nothing works if it is a small fee just pay it and walk away.  Sometimes the frustration is not worth it.

I know that sometimes posters don't like when they say they are quoting me or otherwise stating some they said I said.  While you may not like it when I say to a poster "I didn't say that".  I can't help you.  If a poster is misquoting me or misinterpreting what I've said, I will call them out for it.  I'm pretty good at saying what I mean.  You are welcome to disregard my posts if they cause you concern.

The OP stopped responding to the thread after about mid day yesterday.  So they have not come back to say one way or the other if @lacemaker3  post #58 and my follow up in 59 is how things actually transpired.  IDK if we are right.  We need the OP to chime in and tell us.

You certainly haven't read the entire thread or all my posts as I've never said the OP or any seller should just Eat It.  But one thing is for sure.  To appeal something, you first must understand what happened.

@mam98031

It seems there are 3 other posts by OP dating back to February about this, and with all of that, there are still some gaps that need to be filled in.   I can't speak for everyone, but reading this entire thread feels like a frustrating academic exercise.

Can't disagree with that.  Getting the facts from the OP has been very difficult.  Since it appears they don't want to come back and participate, doesn't seem like there is more info coming anytime soon.

And yes, this transaction that is the subject of the OP's issues was in January.
