Who's leaving?

I know I'm not alone with the way I feel about ebay's new pay plan. Who's leaving and what other platform have you found for selling?

Re: Who's leaving?

I use to sell there.
They changed things that was a nice, simple way of listing to where you have to click too many times to get anywhere.  It's now a place is Pay to Play now.
The one thing that was positive was when one of the co-founders left. He had no ideal of selling and all the can responses to seller's questions.

Re: Who's leaving?

They rely on Google Ads (which don't work) and there is all but no site traffic.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They do nothing to help either the seller or themselves; rather, they constantly make cult-like appeals to seller's to spam social-media sites like that's gonna make a difference.

Yep, many of the naysayers will still be here or have come back.

The more that actually leave the better. I have listings that I have been able to raise the pricing due to less competition. This summer, I will have to go through 1300+ listings and check all pricing again.

I like going through some of the older threads of one's saying they are leaving because of MP.

Look them up and they are still here months later, on MP.

Agreed, sellers blow a lot of smoke here. Many/most have a lot of time invested in listings that they just will not flush when it comes down to it.

Once they get used to being paid in 3 or 4 days or once a week, it is a no brainer.

The hand to mouth sellers will figure it out as well.

Though many will leave, they will not be missed at all.

Re: Who's leaving?

I've been here for 20 years. Last year was my best year ever, and this quarter has been the best quarter ever. It takes time, it takes work. I see you actually do have some sales. I didn't start this way and it wasn't easy getting here. BUT, it does work if you work it.

Sellers that make significant amounts of money, for sure.

The more taxes I pay, the better off my bank account is.

@m.us361

It hasn't even been 2 business days yet.

The item sold on the 6th, so the payment should be processed tomorrow and be ready to send to your checking account.

Have a great day.

Re: Who's leaving?

no, not necessarily...successful selling on ANY site is all about the product - quality, uniqueness, supply & demand, target market, price points,etc,etc..

I have successfully sold on other sites over the past 15 years and most of my experiences were that my sales on other sites may not have equaled those I received on eBay at the time, but over the years, my sales on eBay declined dramatically which in turn gave me more opportunities elsewhere and those other venues were indeed well worth while...at the time. However all sites make changes that can be good or bad that indeed affect the seller's success. Some of the sites where I had previously experienced success, made changes that dramatically affected my sales and I no longer sell on any of those sites. However, nearly 3 years ago when eBay announced MP would become the payment system for sellers, I prepared myself for leaving eBay, and I set up shop on another site, albeit a smaller lesser known site without all the bells & whistles of the big sites, but where I have become established and my sales have been increasing to where my yearly sales there are now nearly equal to the yearly sales on eBay that I have experienced for the past 4 years. There are many many smaller sites out there that still allow PayPal as a payment system along with some sort of banking system like Stripe or other combination of PayPal and a banking payment system that allows for sellers to have the option of using either one or both. These  smaller sites won't be moving into  a Managed payment system like eBay, Amazon or Etsy any time soon...

There is more to online selling than eBay and other big sites...there is life after/beyond eBay.

Sellers can still be successful on these smaller sites...much depends on the products/items they are selling and/or the amount of time & effort they choose to put into a site.

There is no easy path on any site,  but smaller sites can be a very worthwhile endeavor.

Sellers have choices...Sellers do not have to feel that there is no other path to take....when indeed there are options/there are alternatives/there are choices...

Re: Who's leaving?

speak for yourself...not all sellers have your way of thinking...and NO not all of us will have any regrets about leaving eBay...

I indeed will be be closing my eBay account when I am allowed to do so.

Re: Who's leaving?

Sellers have their reasons to leave just as many have reasons to stay. Online selling is a choice. Whatever selling venue is used by sellers for that online selling is a choice >THEIR choice.

We are all happy that you are happy to remain with eBay, but many sellers, including professional sellers(who have a much more professional attitude than your belittling type of attitude) are not whiners and leave for their reasons and because it is their choice to leave.)

Re: Who's leaving?

I don't think their database/network is all that robust.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a static directory structure.

They have only 30 employees.

GMV is around 50M.
