Who's good at math?

I'm going on vacation. I'm leaving Christmas day. Returning on Monday, December 30th.

All my listings are set for 3 days.

Orders that come in on December 24th:  I can pack and leave with a neighbor to ship out on December 26th.

I'm worried about orders that come in on December 25th and 26th.  If i'm set at 3 days to ship, what would be the official ebay ship by date be?

Re: Who's good at math?

I would edit the handling time. I have done all of mine at once.

An unforeseen delay could be problematic for your account.

Although it could slow sales a bit(probably not, some buyers don't read) I would go even more than 1 extra day.

Re: Who's good at math?

So if a order comes in on Wednesday December 25th, that's a holiday and doesn't count. It would be like the order came in on Thursday, December 26th.

Friday, December 27th would be 1 day.

Saturday, December 28th and Sunday, December 29th are a weekend and don't count. Does ebay still not count weekends?

Monday, December 30th would be day 2.

Tuesday, December 31st would be day 3.

So a order that comes in on Wednesday, December 25th has to ship on Tuesday December 31st?  Is that correct?

Re: Who's good at math?

I may be wrong but I think a purchase on the 25th would need to ship by Dec 30th. When I receive a sale on Friday, Saturday or Sunday with one day shipping I have to ship by Monday.  With one day shipping you have to ship by the end of the next business day. Your logic of an order on the 25th does not push the sale to the 26th and then start counting, I think it would have to ship by the end of the 3rd business day- Monday the 30th.

I wish you wonderful and safe travels!

Re: Who's good at math?

This is a really good question.  I guess I agree with the post above regarding sales on the 25th.  Will you be back in time to ship on the 30th?

Re: Who's good at math?

If they come in on the 27th, don’t forget New Year is a holiday too.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

Re: Who's good at math?

I get back on the afternoon of the 30th so i would really have to scramble.  Our airport post office stays open late.

Sure would be nice to ship out on the 31st instead.

Re: Who's good at math?

Vegas!?  Then you should be good with odds.    As slow as it's been, what are the chances that inhawaii will get a sale on Dec. 25th?Smiley Wink

This is faulty

Wednesday is a holiday and does not count as a shipping day. That does not mean you can skip it when you count handling time.

For items purchased on the 25th.

One day handling ship on the 26th

Two day handling ship on the 27th

Three day handling ship on the 30th

It might be easier if you think about handling as "Business day after purchase"   One day handling is "Ship on first business day after purchase"  Second day handling "Ship on second business day"  three day handling "Ship on third business day after purchase"

When I go on vacation and leave my items eligible for purchase I extend the handling time by a few extra days just to set expectations in case I am delayed.  I also like to use 5 days + in order to get the message on the listings that states "Seller has an extended handling time" right on the listing page.  If you only have 2-3 days handling, that message does not show up on the page.

No, that's not how it works.  One-day handling means that you ship on the next business day.

For orders that come in on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, if you have 1-day handling you have to ship on Monday. For a holiday, you ship on the next business day after the holiday; next week with a holiday on Wednesday, one-day handling would mean that you must ship on Thursday.  And 3-day handling means you have two more (business) days, so you'd have to ship on Monday.

Re: Who's good at math?

Consider subscribing to a basic store today and spend the next few days setting it up. The day before you leave, put the store on vacation for a few days.  Extending handling times does not mean potential customers will read or understand them.  A couple of unhappy customers is way more expensive than a store. You will probably get to like the store benefits and decide to keep it forever. Thanks
