A buyer purchased a clothing item from me recently. I shipped the item the same day. This morning I get an e-mail from the buyer. The buyer is upset with me because his item was last scanned in Nashville and now shows it to be in Pennsylvania. He lives in Texas. My question is, once I drop off the package at the post office, how am I responsible for delivery of the package?
I politely told the buyer to be patient as I have seen this before and the package will eventually arrive. He has become very nasty now. I have noticed this trend lately where buyers have become very nasty. I just recently declined a crazy low ball offer and the buyer sent numerous nasty messages.

You are responsible for the package until it shows it was delivered to the buyer.
If it's past the estimated delivery date that Ebay gave the buyer, they can file an INR for a refund.
I think most buyers know that it's gonna take a little longer to get their packages, but there are some that's not that understanding.

In addition to the other post's info, many USPS sorting facilities, etc are closed due to outbreaks of the virus within those facilities, so packages get re-routed to other facilities during deep cleaning, that may be out of the way, but will eventually find its way back to where it has to go.
And yes, people are more and more nasty. Maybe from being cooped up, maybe bc they are setting things up to scam the system, whatever.
Just keep your cool and explain to your buyers what I posted and maybe even message them in advance of shipping their item to make sure they 'get it'.

Did you ship with tracking number and post it or give it to the buyer?

I ship all my items with tracking numbers which is why the buyer knew where his item was located.

Request email or text notifications on this item via USPS Tracking - for some reason, this seems to get an item moving when it seems stuck or without activity for a few days. Good luck!
ps: I had an item stuck in Atlanta for 30+ days this Spring and was fortunate to have a very understanding and patient buyer - I made sure they had tracking # and updated them with what I saw on USPS site.

I am waiting for an item coming from New Jersey to me in Southern California. It was to be delivered to me by June 30th. It is now July 7th and my package is sitting somewhere in Guam. Hasn't moved in over 2 days. The USPS says it will get here eventually. (Ignoring low level of Customer Service from USPS) Interesting enough, its a Priority Flat Rate Box and they informed me that in the small print it clearly states we aren't guaranteed delivery by any date at all. It could be a month, it doesn't matter. Hopefully it starts moving West sooner than that.

I think you are frustrated because they didn't even ask you about it. It probably makes you feel like the effort you put into your listings to make them clear and rock solid, doesn't mean squat. I'd feel the same way about that.

The problem is ebay! in my opinion
Promising delivery times to buyers in an unprecedented time of postal slowdowns and chaos, (for many anyway) thus enabling a buyer to get a premature refund, then the package arrives after the refund.
After delivery, does ebay refund the seller?
Ebay is irresponsible.
There should at least be an extended delivery grace period during this pandemic.
NOT the sellers fault for shipping delays if they shipped promptly.
Let ebay refund from their own pocket if ebay can't keep promises!

I agree with everything that you wrote. If a buyer files a Item not received case, Ebay will notify me and ask me to supply a tracking number. This has happened to me a handful of times and each time ebay sides with me. At least they understand once I have done my job and packed and shipped the item with tracking, that I am not responsible for any delay. It is up to the USPS then.

For what it's worth... I live in Nashville and understand that they're receiving (and moving) lots of packages. My shipments are going off without a hitch, actually. Rest easy... it'll get there!

We've had this Guam stupidity happen before as well, Guam is clear out in the Pacific Ocean basically between Quensland Australia and Japan. It makes absolutely no sense why a package going from NJ to CA would end up out in the wild blue yonder but we've seen it... That being said our package did start making its way back to the CONUS within about two weeks and it eventually made its way to the destination.
Hawaii is another, had a package going from VA to MI end up there...
It also made its way back after about a week or two.

It is very unfortunate, but it would seem that ebay's feelings on the subject is that if USPS is slow, then ship by another carrier - Amazon or FedEx or someone - that may get it there on time. Of course, if you do and it gets there late, then ebay's answer is to use USPS or someone that might be better at getting it there on time.

Yes, I can concur there there is a recent rise in impatient buyers who cannot be calmed down no matter how hard you try. For some, explaining things to them only fuels their rage. This is a tough time for the world, even more so for the US. Many buyers don't understand that we are just like them. And ebay still treats sellers as the scapegoat for angry buyers. It's sad.
