I’m really new at this but I see that some buyers buy my more expensive stuff and then in a round-a-bout way demand a full refund and keep the merch. Not wanting to receive a flogging with a neg, and/or a nuke on my star ratings , either of which which causes me to go to eBay “prison” for months, can I just simply off everything for free without getting into trouble. Should I throw in some free money too?

No one is allowed to demand a refund and keep the item. If you read it here that is fake news. The ones who do post here saying that either did not follow the instructions Ebay gave them, or they sat or their behinds and waited for the case to expire.

A neg or a nuke is not going to send you to 'Ebay prison'. As long as you respond to a case opened against you, you will get your item back.Or hopefully, your item.

Change this policy. It may make things better:
Seller does not accept returns

A negative feedback or a ding to your (almost entirely irrelevant) star ratings is not the nuclear disaster you are imagining.

Despite what you may think, your "No Returns" policy will hurt you more than help you.
"No returns" does not mean "no refunds, and if a buyer opens an INAD case and eBay has to step in, eBay will take the "no returns" to mean you do not want the item back when the buyer is refunded.
"No returns" can tempt a buyer to make sure that an item is, in fact, not as described because of damage or missing parts.
"No returns" makes honest, experienced buyers think you will be difficult to deal with if a problem arises.
Remember that you asked.

Agreed as long as everything remains within eBay. If the buyer goes outside eBay and opens a chargeback with their CC company all bets are off.

Sorry for your situation. You need to start accepting returns. Since you don't, the buyer is not obligated to return the item, because to them it reads you don't want it back. Accept returns and pay for the label. Many scammers will avoid sellers like yourself if you do. No returns does not mean no refunds.
Congrats on your sales and keep up the good work.
Happy Selling!

I’ve never given anything for free. If you are, you’re doing it wrong.

FALLACY - I have never lost a CC charge back.

That just means you were lucky. Most of the cases go back to tracking information, USPS has a habit of changing the tracking without an audit trail, and you will lose in these cases.

Years ago I started offering returns and free returns with a paid for ship back label on here and it drastically reduced to nearly nothing anyone trying to scam their way into a free item.

Not only that, if a buyer is threatening to leave negative feedback if they do not get a FREE item then they are in big trouble and that feedback will be removed if they do that nonsense on here.

EBay does not use feedback to assess member accounts.
Feedback is used by many buyers to make their choice of seller.
A single neg can poison a very new account.
It is useful, if a member begins to sell, to use an existing Buying account since that will already have a solid and positive FB rating.
Any business can expect losses from shrinkage and shoptheft. EBay (and PoshMark and etsy and Amazon) are no different.
It is necessary to factor in a one percent "failed transaction" rate when pricing goods.
