When the buyer doesn't know you are the seller (thinking you are ebay)

How do you behave when the buyer types to you with a complaint about the seller... thinking you are ebay?

Buyer messages they didn't receive item when tracking shows delivered. I tell them the same ol' story... check with anyone who can take the mail... then mail carrier/PO to get GPS. Buyer says they checked with everyone and got no answers. I asked they even checked with the mail carrier and local PO in person... what did they tell you? Buyer says yes she checked with them too and they "said nothing." Being skeptical, I asked "So you asked them about the package and they didn't utter any words?? What did they tell you exactly?"

Buyer stopped replying and filed an INR. At the time I didn't know it was the same buyer and told them to check with anyone who can take the mail (again). Buyer says they already did that and to please help them because they tried to contact the seller and the seller never responded to them (lie).

What would you do here? Correct them? Or just let the buyer keep thinking I'm ebay and tell them the same stuff I did in messages?

Never had that happen in 20 years. I would have ignored the message, forwarded it to ebay and let them contact the buyer if necessary.

If it was me, I'd say something to the effect of "I am the seller in this transaction and we did previously communicate.  Again here is the tracking that shows the item was delivered; any further attempt to deceive will constitute fraud and be dealt with appropriately" as at this point the buyer has no credibility and I really would no longer care if they got the item or not.

I think ebay (you) should respond to the buyer and say "according to our records, we show the seller did respond to you".   How can we help you?
