When did eBay change the FEEDBACK FORUM policies

It seems that buyers and sellers can post whatever they want now,  within reason,  but unfair or wrong, you can only reply or respond.  eBay will not help or fix provable  false postings.  You can only reply or respond.  Feedback is  now for folks to post their feelings of the transaction???

Yes, feedback is just the customer's opinion and does not have to factual.   No different than if you or I left a restaurant review.

Best to just post a calm & factual response to the buyer's feedback, think it out & don't sound angry or vindictive

Future buyers that look at that neg will be more likely to judge you by your response than the buyer's initial feedback

Welcome to the new world order where fantasy, falsehood, lies, and subjective truth dictate public policy. Its gonna be a hard ride from here, but its gonna be short...

That's what feedback was always for.   It is an opinion of the transaction.  The buyer leaving the feedback is saying whether he was happy, unhappy, or neutral about the transaction.  He may or may not give a reason for that feeling.

As a seller, if you get a feedback you feel does not represent the reality of the transaction, you may respond to it.  If you keep your response professional, brief, calm, and factual, you'll find a neg or neut does you little harm.

If I were buying from you I would not give any credence to the negative feedback you received.   It's clear from the listing you don't do same day shipping and most folks know First Class can take longer these days.

Since 2008 (?) sellers can leave only positive feedback or no feedback.

Sellers can Respond to feedback.

The most effective Response, like the most effective feedback, is calm, factual, and professional.

Your Response to that neutral is good. Future customers will read it and trust you.

The neg?  In what situation does the tracked shipping taking two weeks to arrive constitute an emergency?

Remember to put your tracking number in the Dispute (if any) even though eBay theoretically already has it.

I've only understood the reason for buyer  feedback is to leave a factual rating towards the transaction itself.

The seller is stuck with only leaving a positive account towards the buyer, so that takes " factual" right out of it. It is nice to receive feedback as a buyer, but it is virtually pointless.

However, it is true enough that buyers will use feedback to leave a product reviewpolitical statement, general gripes and personal animosities, anything BUT the transaction.

There is so much importance placed on feedback, that to an outsider it would be believed that the actual transaction itself is just a side-product of the business catering to the needs of people needing  personal validation.

Are the dates given in the feedback not correct? If so you might be able to get it removed. If the dates are correct then there is nothing about the feedback that would lead to a removal. This would have been true 25 years ago just as it is today.

You can try using the automated system, you might have a slim chance of removal but more likely at best eBay might remove the comment but leave the rating in place.

A quality reply can negate the feedback, a reply which is a rant against the buyer will only make it look even worse.

EBay doesn't use FB to assess member accounts.

It's a relic of the 20th century internet , when buying sight unseen from a stranger 3000km away was scary and challenging, instead of how we order pizza.

Those "product reviewpolitical statement, general gripes and personal animosities, anything BUT the transaction."  will be ignored by sensible customers. They don't hurt the seller at all.

Too bad buyer names are masked though.

Frankly, I think eBay should drop Feedback.

A rating system based on number of transactions, modified by bid retractions, claims (lost or won), and perhaps handling (not delivery) time, would be more accurate and useful.

I will add that if I read a seller's feedback and they have a slew of nasty negatives, all from one or more  buyers but they are stating that they hate the product, a pointless rant, or anything other than the transaction, I disregard them.

Likewise, if a seller responds professionally to that feedback, I consider that a positive aspect.

Sellers worrying about negative feedback from buyers would do well to realise that one good, factual reply will more often than not neutralise an unreasonable  buyer's hate-fest.
