What would you tell the EBAY CEO/Board members if they would ask you what should Ebay work on?

Dear sellers,

If you could get it off your chest please do so what would you tell those at the top(board members) who are calling the shots for Ebay?
What is Ebay doing wrong and how can they improve?

Hopefully someone with a few remaining brain cells within Ebay will hear us out.

and Go...…...…….

Re: What would you tell the EBAY CEO/Board members if they would ask you what should Ebay work on?

Overall I believe eBay is trying their best to improve the site - perhaps I am naive.

But "Negotiate better rates for shipping!!" - Definitely

With the new proposed postal rates coming out in January 2020 on top of the internet taxes and what I call the "PP tax" - fees charged by PayPay on the internet tax, it keeps getting more expensive to sell anything.

I am not sure how eBay would negotiate better rates for shipping - unless it would be with their labels. But that would not help me since I prefer not to use their labels. But what they could do is either cut their commission back a mite or give out Promos giving a percentage off. Then they could write that expense off and everyone might end up selling more things - thereby making eBay more money.

An example of how have seen where lower prices makes a store owner (this being eBay) more money.  Gas stations sell gas 5 cents over cost versus those that sell 10 cents over cost. Guess which one ends up with more customers? Guess who is making more money?

As for the items from China.   When your buyers get "cheap products and horrible ship times", that makes the buyer unhappy and they find somewhere else to buy their stuff. And a happy customer returns to the store to buy more. Not to mention how does eBay make money on a widget that sells for 25 cents and free shipping?

All this stuff from China reminds me of a flea market nearby. I used to go there quit a bit when the stuff being sold was unique - rows and rows of good stuff. Then it became  loaded with stuff from China - shoes, small appliances, etc. I made the mistake of buying a telephone there - took it home - and surprise - it didn't work. Went back to return and the seller was no longer there. So Guess what - I have not been back to that flea market in over 7 years.

Hiring an executive team that doesn't subscribe to the ideology that sellers are disposable. How's that GMV growth working out for you guys?

I'd just cut to the chase and ask them which pre- determined and approved changes they were going to use the "survey" results to validate

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".

Nothing will change for the good of sellers, we all know that.
The tilt in buyers favor was to get and keep buyers but then the search is so fouled up the buyers can’t even become buyers.
They are pushing the catalogue thinking that will be the salvation of the search but how many buyers search by numbers or specifics unless they are looking for a part?
People buy stuff because the see and like what they see! Too bad all we see is pages and pages of the 99 cent stuff from China.

Dear God, please help me to be
the person my dog thinks I am.

Re: What would you tell the EBAY CEO/Board members if they would ask you what should Ebay work on?

Ok.  You asked!

1. fix search

2. anyone answering phones for eBay should know what they are doing, fully trained with right answers.

3. let managed payments pay for postage from monies earned instead of paying up front.  I get in a bind when I have no sales for 6 days then sell 15 over the weekend.  I need to access the Money earned instead of the family checking account. Hubby would let me list more...

4. Bring back global shipping for managed payments. Or stop adding global to my listings!!

5. Don’t send me emails about i items I just looked at.  If I want to know, I will watch the item, maybe my selling items should show instead if the system wasn’t so clogged up with half baked ideas.

thanks for reading

Something I forgot...

separate new items from antique and collectible. Two different platforms.  You lose us old time dealers when you promote new items. Should be different scale, items sell differently and to different markets. I am not against sellers of new items, there is room for both, just need treated separately

thank you

Thanks. I missed eBay express. Been selling off and on since 98. Must have been in an off time.  I miss old eBay.

Re: What would you tell the EBAY CEO/Board members if they would ask you what should Ebay work on?

I am horribly conflicted; when I first started on eBay I was able to sell cheaper than Wal-Mart and it was a source of pride for me to carry on our 100 year tradition of making life tough for the big chain stores; we've always maintained that competition is good for business.
And, then eBay started changing rules and adding requirements that cost money; and, we had to add that in to the mark up. I can't beat Wal-Mart very often anymore. I know this has hurt my sales, and therefore cost ebay money too. It's complicated.

I'd just be happy if they honored their own policies and didn't lie to me every time I call in with an issue.

I'm so sick of getting screwed over and then told how my seller protection does not apply because of made up reasons. I am sick of eBay pretending it's "impossible" to help me, and telling me how the "system won't let them", even though the system worked just fine before.

Maybe if they spent more time empowering their sellers, they would have more and better sellers who did not feel unsafe selling higher dollar items, and maybe they would stick around longer instead of getting screwed out of hundreds of dollars at a time and then leaving, never to sell here again.

I get wanting to keep buyers happy, but why in the world would you kick your best sellers under the bus to appease a known scammer or habitual bad buyer?
