What to do... item not picked up.

Shipped item back in september. It’s been waiting for the buyer at a Fedex location. Buyer is awol. When should i call back and get the package shipped back?

Some sellers would refund right away.    Some sellers might not be so anxious to give the money back.   


Well if that is your concern, the call to FedEx should be more important then as the seller needs the tracking to reflect that information if true.  Obviously Fedex can't return the item to the seller if they don't have it.

 

Why would any seller be "anxious" to give the money back to the buyer?  That doesn't make sense to me.  What am I missing?

 

When this has happened to me, I've always waited for the item to come back, then I refund the buyer less any fees or costs I can't recover.  I'm out some time but not money for shipping or fees.

Interestinglywith an Undeliverable shipment eBay does not require the seller to refund the buyer.

The reasoning is that the buyer is supposed to provide a secure place for delivery.

 

You keep the money.

If FedEx returns the shipment, you keep the shipment.

 

Now, you may feel ethically bound to refund the buyer, since having both money and product is not right, but there is no reason for you to return the shipping (in either direction) or your eBay or Paypal fees.

To answer previous replies. Tried contacting the buyer multiple times. No response. Package confirmed still at walgreens as it is extremely unlikely they’d release a Direct Signature package w/o scan. I guess i sold it, got my money. So if it ever comes back, it comes back.

I'd certainly contact Fedex and ask that it be returned, particularly if high priced item.  Not so much to resell.......I'd wait a while for that.......but just leaving it there could be tempting for employees......as well as it just plain getting lost somehow........

I might add that I did have Concierge back me up on a bad address claim that came back.....  Buyer obviously was not on internet alot, didn't answer emails, but did send email asking me to reship, but never answered the "to what address" question.  Emailed every 7 or 10 days or so and I kept answering, but she never gave any info.  Also had a bad phone #.....I finally called Ebay and they said, I'd done everything right, closed the case in my favor and I did not have to refund.  Buyer still contacted me 3 more times........to each, I replied that ebay had said for her to contact them about it....  Never heard any more........tho I'm giving it a bit more time before I relist....
