See sales order info, there's a charge I've never seen before. (The starred information below says that eBay is collecting it on behalf of a government and remitting it on my behalf, same note they use for sales taxes being collected).

Some states now charge a retail delivery fee for online orders. I think $.29 is the fee for Colorado. Just another tax 🙂

Retail delivery fee.. Well you're using the commercial service. Did you ship to Canada?

Is your buyer in Colorado?
If so, see here:

It is Colorado, thanks for confirming. I didn't know they charged this fee... can you explain more about this tax? It's separate on the sales order from the sales tax.
I'm assuming it's a flat fee, not a percentage? They paid this on a $20 purchase of stamps.

It says retailers with less than 500K in sales, I'm assuming they are using eBay as the retailer, not the seller on eBay. I definitely don't have 500K in sales.

It's supposedly to compensate for the use and maintenance of the roads due to all these on line deliveries being made. Just another tax grab basically.

Marketplace facilitators are required to collect the fee for items delivered by motor vehicle as well as sellers with $500K in sales or a physical presence in Colorado.

As of July 2024, Minnesota also has a 50 cent package delivery fee (paid by the buyer, not the seller) on packages valued over $100.00.

Isn't that what they say the fuel tax and various vehicle registration taxes are for?

I beg to disagree.
To live in Minnesota, it is a requirement to be weird.
And I've lived in Minnesota for nearly 78 years.
Which is weird in and of itself.

Hello legislators - Ummm.... sure.... because before the last 8-10 years everything came to our houses by carrier pigeon or helium balloons. There weren't millions of cars and trucks driving all over hill and dale and town gathering things to feed and supply a family with what they needed to live realistically in our society. It sure will be nice when governments take less year by year from us because all the things we funded in the past worked well and now we don't need to keep doing it anymore.
