I sold a Rolex watch for $10,000 on eBay 20 years ago. It was a smooth transaction, including the PayPal payment and USPS shipping.

Things have changed a lot in 20 years, no way I'd risk that now. As they say, "don't sell it here if you can't afford to lose it".

Never sell anything on eBay that you can't afford to lose.

A trombone for $275.

A heavily damaged concert poster from the Boston Tea Party for the Velvet Underground and the Byrds in 1970. Paid $50 on Craigslist, sold on eBay for $1000.

I sold a sword for $3000+, actually, one of a number of them for well over $1000. Has PayPal been around that long? My how time flies when one is having fun! Never have used PayPal.

If you still had your trombone you could play a wah-wah for the loss of pburn's soul. A tuba's probably better for that sentiment, but a trombone would work.

@gracieallen01 , we’ve had to be on PayPal since 2002. Quite a change from the early days of buyers mailing checks/money orders!
Most expensive things I sold were a western saddle for about $350, and a vintage press camera for $400. Both of those were about 20 years ago.

Well, for those of us with merchant accounts, didn't have to go to PayPal until 2008. Hehehehe, I still take checks and money orders - on my website.

A violin for 1200.00 . That was long ago however. Today I would not even think of such a sale due to all the buyer fraud today.

Art nouveau sterling bowl, Gorham Martele $8,500 and change. Paid by cashier's check that was verified before I even deposited it. No PayPal back then.
Would I post that here again? No way, never, not going to happen...LOL.

I remember telling buyers that I only accepted USPS Money orders. That makes me feel ancient.
Great Moms turn them off first.
