Did you mean:

What is your first year of sales? and are you full or part time reseller?

I want to do a survey and also it may give new seller some data points to see where they are now.

Re: What is your first year of sales? and are you full or part time reseller?

It's been too many years to remember that.

I do this as part of my job at a B&M store along with being the bookkeeper.

I started selling like this in 2008 on my personal account.

Things were going so well, we started this business account.

It has gotten a lot more competitive then it was back then.

I average between 600-700K a year now. If I had to guess, it was probably around 40-50k a year in the beginning, but we were only selling a few high demand items. We still don't list a lot of items, just product we know sells well.

One thing that helps us is we purchase in bulk from manufactures and warehouse it (we get better pricing doing this).

With the supply chain problems we are facing today, this has been something that helped us, we have product and a lot of other dealers are out of stock.

I think the OP means the first year selling on eBay. And I think mine was about 2005... not sure. But I'm enjoying life, too!

Edit to add: I'd consider my sales PT... so that I have more time to enjoy life. 😊

@anch-4943

My first year selling on ebay was 2010 when I was a student at college, it helped me a lot to pay college fees.

My average between $400-$700 each month in the beginning, i know this amount is very low to some of you, but $400-$700 it's big money here in my country (Yemen).

After I graduated from college on 2014, i started do this as full time job, being the owner of the business.

i stopped selling at ebay on 2015 after the war began in Yemen, all postal services have stopped to this day.

Then on 2018, i started selling again after i moved my items to fulfillment company in Saudi Arabia, i'm still using this company services since.

So Thank you ebay, and thanks for any member helped me.

Re: What is your first year of sales? and are you full or part time reseller?

As for me, my cousin got me started selling on eBay to clean out my basement. After I realized this is not hard to start, I jumped right in and started going to Goodwill, EstateSales and garage sale to get more inventory (basement full again lol). I’m almost to my one year anniversary and I sold over 1000 items hitting over 40k in sales. Never in my wildest dreams I thought I can sell this much. Thank you eBay for the platform and tons of “teachers” I’ve encountered in my journey.

Re: What is your first year of sales? and are you full or part time reseller?

Tagging on:

Started selling on ebay in 2000 after closing a B & M  coin and jewelry store.    It was simply

to rid myself of all the stuff from my shop.   Coins,  Jewelry,  Collectibles,  fixtures,  etc.

After a while,   I realized the potential and sort of stuck to it part time while working

a real job full time.

Pretty soon I discovered that I could buy items on ebay and turn around and sell

the same stuff for huge profits also   On ebay.

22 years later.    Retired from the rat-race of going to work every day.   Instead  I work

in my jammies and never have to wear shoes and can take a nap or watch a movie or read a book

whenever I want.

I just listed a stamp collection after breaking it up into smaller units.    Paid $72.00 to another

ebay seller and spent 2 hours making   $459.00 in new listings.

eBay is what you make of it, and what you put into it.

Considering less than 1% of all sellers even come to these boards, I can not see your ''survey'' being anywhere close to a real indication of anything.

Agree with @downunder-61  - your "sampling might be slim"

Started selling on e-Bay in 2004, after being a buyer since 2000.  Became a PS in 2005 and started selling in tandem with Amazon in 2006.  Still sell on both sites - work a full-time day job and most days, selling on the 2 sites is like a 2nd FT job.

Re: What is your first year of sales? and are you full or part time reseller?

I first started selling on eBay in 2001.  My goal was to be a full time seller & achieved it more at the beginning.  I would love to have 30,000 listings & get 10-15 sales a day, minimum.  However, in 2022, my sales are not even part time; only casual.
