What is wrong with ebay's coders???????

Every change they make to the system results in many errors. This recent change to the seller hub just takes the cake. Not only does their new improved system require many more clicks to do the same as before, now I cant even find my listings by my store categories. When I select active listings by store category the dropdown only shows maybe a fifth of my store categories. How about you guys stop trying to fix what is not broke and actually fix what is broke??

Re: What is wrong with ebay's coders???????

I had a heck of a time locating the search option when you click on your active listings.    I use this function daily and was convinced they left it out.  I then found it as it is in the same row with the other buttons.   I guess they needed more room on the page to promote their promoted listings feature to us.      I usually am quite frustrated when changes happen as just when you master 1 new layout,  they switch it up on you.   But honestly,  if that is the worst thing that happens this week we are all doing quite well.   I do wonder if eBay uses an external thinktank to come up with changes and exclusively offers the beta testing to new sellers.

I was looking for this for a while too!! and now my categories with sub categories are not showing up in the list so I can bulk edit them.  So frustrating i wish they will leave this stupid stuff alone and fix the problems.

Perhaps you can start adding your own browser bookmarks?

(Why eBay has middle school computer science students doing their coding is a mystery to me.)

Yes, and also my store categories that are only used as a second category for items are not in the drop down also.

Mine as well.  Called ebay spent way too long for them to tell me it was a reported issue.  Very frustrated....

Yes! Without bookmarks in my Chrome browser banner line (plus lesser ones in pulldown menus) I would spend half my time clicking around this site. Instead I can just jump directly to the page I need (including this Community group) with one click and minimal waiting. I haven't looked at my Seller Hub page in, like, forever...

Well, basically because they're cheap. You can give an assignment to an intern and he or she will give it their very best shot, because he or she is desperate to land the job. Nothing wrong with that at all; you can prove yourself and learn the company's product coding at the same time.

Where eBay falls down, in a major way, is two-fold:

  1. Their constant redesign of functional pages is a never-ending churn of poorly-thought-out changes (you should at least be able to explain what the problem is that you're trying to solve; replacing a one-click function with five clicks is not a solution to anything), and

  2. an utter lack of any coding QA, peer review or release testing. All the bugs have to be discovered by the users, as no one on the coding side seems to know how it will ultimately be used.

One of my long, ongoing frustrations has been that their communication with users, on the rare occasion when that occurs, is always carefully orchestrated to minimize pushback from users. For example, their one-hour interactive Weekly Chat was downgraded to an occasional post-now, answers-later "Ask Me About..." series that seems to have been completely abandoned now. The most recent Seller Update (2024 Summer Update) promised several days of Q&A on various topics, but after a few perfunctory replies, the answers simply stopped coming, and on the last day, no one from eBay even bothered to log in.

Others are reporting this. See this thread where I tagged eBay reps for assistance - hopefully they'll come back with a response before end of day. If not, we may have to wait until Monday for a reply.

In the meantime I encourage you to report the issue to customer service, or use the comments link on your active listings page to report the error that way.

It gets even better. I can access my listings in sub categories if I insert a item title term. But the page views of all of them are 0 ZERO. I know this is not true. This is such a mess
