Last month I contacted Ebay customer service 2x and I had one representative tell me I should just auction off all my listings instead of using buy it now, as if I pull my inventory out of the closet and it is just free. I was floored by this suggestion.
The other suggested I should list items in the wrong category to avoid additional listing fees. I think this one is outright against Ebay policy and could really hurt my account standing or have me restricted. What are these people thinking? Ebay, what is going on with your customer service reps? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I'm a BIN seller. Recently, I've tried a few auctions, mostly on items the value of which I am ignorant, but when I sell them at all, I usually get the opening bid and no others. I have read that 85% to 88% of ebay sales are now fixed price.
If it's rare they will find it......usually.
I bet you're right on the percentages.

CS is absolutely ridiculous. Sold an item and buyer claimed damaged shipment. Without zero proof or pictures ebay automatically generated a return label of an address I haven't used in 5 years. Item tried to deliver to wrong return address but ended up being sent back to the buyer. Now the buyer has my refunded money and the original item and CS says there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. Was sent through about 5 different members just to be told there is nothing they can do. Just lost $1,000 on this case and I will be contacting my local police. NEVER will I sell on ebay again. They don't care about what situation your in and don't care to find out. They DEFINETELY don't have their sellers backs.

Evening,
And I bet they kept your FVF you paid as well...so you lose the $1000 and paid $100 to watch it disappear!

Calling ebay CS for other than the time of day is like going to a vet for a root canal.
If I wanted to know the actual time, I wouldn't even call them for that. 46 O'Clock??

Most of the reps I have spoken to are from the US and are probably located in Utah. Never had any problems and all of them knew what they were doing and gave great advice.

You are lucky or on their good list or something, because I called 10-15 times on one situation and never got a USA person.

You are very fortunate that most of the reps you speak to are in the US. I don't have such luck. I will say, though, that about six weeks ago I had a technical issue and the female rep in the Philippines was expert and patient in helping with my dilemma.
I usually get USA reps but I've had good luck with Philippines and U.K. reps unsure how I got a U.K. rep but yeah.
