I would promote and advertise the site as THE leader in vintage, antique, unique and rare items and add, "Oh, by the way, we sell new stuff too!"

I would get rid of the overseas customer service call centers and hire a all US staff who knows how to speak and understand English.

@inhawaii I would also close the California office (high rent district and high salary area) and relocate the HQ to the geographic center of the lower 48 states ... that's about 2.6 miles northwest of Lebanon, KS. - population around 200 people so the town would see massive growth and of course everyone in town would be working for me except for the one lone Postal work who runs the Post Office there LOL!

I would hire my own tech team and more than likely I`d split the site after careful consideration and discussion.

I would dump it for what I can before it gets any worse and start drinking umbrella drinks on a beach somewhere that no one knows me. 🙂

I live about 150 miles northeast of there, in another state. Our state motto is, "We're not the middle of nowhere, but we can see it from here."

In it's present state, I'd step down.

If I had to keep it then I would try to get away from trying to be Walmart or amazon and go back to the grass roots of being famous for hard to find items versus trying to be another china **bleep** vendor.

Good ideas on this thread. I would also have more seller protection.

I would do much more to protect sellers.
1. Allow sellers to see how many SNAD returns a buyer has made.
2. Limit the number of returns a buyer can make for any reason. (Some big stores already do this as policy.)
3. Aggressively help sellers pursue recourse against a buyer who commits fraud.
4. Eliminate seller penalties for too many returns that are not the seller's fault.
I would also change some of the seller criteria. I sell some items that can be shipped with just a stamp but because I want to keep my seller status I have to have tracking on them. This just makes things more costly for the buyer.
I would also negotiate with USPS for better rates. They give other sites a break, why not us?

# 1 Answer so far! Still laughing!

If that happens, I will travel all my life.

Once a year I would give away two FREE 4x4 Pickup trucks from the US automaker who did NOT take Federal Bailout money a few years ago ... lets see, that would be Ford.
In a 3rd party random drawing I would give 2 ... one to a Seller with 7 or more years of Selling on their ID and one to a Buyer with 7 or more years of Buying experience.

That was a bit tongue in cheek.
All other interests outside of Ebay would be sold off ASAP.
I would hunt down the Top Technology VP in the country. Pay him 1/3rd more. Give him free reign for hiring his department. Assist him while he hires the top talent for all his departments. Hire a new Service VP and allow them the same free reign.
Back up every stupid idea that has been done to hurt the sellers.
Remove every excessive fee stuck on them.
Give all sellers 2 months free while we work on getting the platform up and running ( maybe 3 or 4 months?) Gonna be a big effort.
Once stability and sanity is mostly returned, go through each other department to ensure that the right person is in the right job. If not.......door slam.

What if YOU owned eBay?
eBay is worth roughly $30 billion, so if I owned eBay I would sell it and retire.
