I would promote and advertise the site as THE leader in vintage, antique, unique and rare items and add, "Oh, by the way, we sell new stuff too!"

I'd give a hundred kudos for that one alone.

I would hire staff that cares. Staff that helps, encourages and explains.
If something goes wrong, wouldn't it be nicer to call eBay and get help instead of coming here, asking for help and hoping that someone helps you and then that they might actually know what they were talking about?
I used to spend hours on these board helping people. But too many people don't know anything and there are not enough people to help. So what does eBay do? Nothing.
Great Moms turn them off first.

That one I wouldn't implement. Yahoo auctions tried it and it was a disaster.

Ebay doesn't do nothing. They are very busy every day trying to figure out how to take more of your money while you are making less.

ONE of the many things I would do... Like another unnamed selling site - no fees on the 1st $10 of shipping!

There should be no fees on shipping at all. AND they should pass along at least PART of the USPS discount they are pocketing to sellers.

Could you imagine the sports bidders teaming up to see how long they could keep it going.

I always thought sellers hated paypal because they are very quick to side with the buyer and return their money.
I would also like to see past history account for something. A seller of 20 years with excellent service and feedback getting the benefit of the doubt in a he said / she said with a new buyer.

No fees on shipping at all didn't work as some people built their prices into the shipping to avoid fees.

I'll say that word over and over and over... MONETIZE, MONETIZE, MONETIZE it. That's all ebay has or can do anymore. I wish them luck taking sellers' profits away from them to survive.

I would allow neg FB for buyers.
I would allow sellers to enforce their no returns policies, if they dared. (I would expect their sales to dwindle to nothing).
I would end the MBG - if sellers are being scammed by getting the wrong item back, they don't have to refund. If a seller is selling junk, his FB will soon enough out him as a fraud.
Payment for return shipping would be on the buyer but the seller could refund it at the seller's option.
I would fire Devious Weenie.

Most of your suggestions would run off any good buyers that are left. No buyer is going to buy unprotected and put up with being trashed. That is so 1990s.
sellers are already complaining about the dearth of good buyers, sure send more away. Let’s go back to the days when buyers were ripped off instead of sellers. That will definitely help sales.
