What have you tried to sell and then been surprised no one wanted it?

For me it is a Land's End women's red bow tie with a small candy cane pattern. I think that darn thing has been listed 3 years and I just now put in in the Goodwill box. The original "how to tie a bow tie" instructions were included, and finally this year I added a photo of me in the tie. I always enjoyed wearing it with a white or green & white striped oxford type  shirt at Christmas with a red or green skirt. The only thing that fits me any more is the tie so I decided to re-home it. Nope. Lots of views every time  (probably because of the Land's End name), but never a nibble. Done with trying at this point.

Can't think of one.

If I have an item that just sits around and doesn't seem to get any views or watchers, sometimes just lowering the price or offering free shipping does the trick.

Sales-- you have sales? You lucky seller you. LOL. Just kidding. I have been trying to sell a dashcam for 10 bucks brand new. They were in stores last year for 40 bucks. It is definitely a different landscape then many years ago.

I sold an old brochure to a obscure hotel that cost me nothing; that surprised me that someone wanted it! You never know...

It was bid up to $30. Two bidders bid it up from $4. I guess the timing was right.

I am almost embarrassed to post this ( but obviously not embarrassed enough).  I found a '90s Ed Hardy (check my listings - it's there!) coi fish knit dress that I just thought epitomized the '90s, like iconic '90s.  Thought SOMEONE would really love it.  Well, it's make its rounds for the last year and I've dropped the price on it.  I guess it's not vintage enough.  But it is cool in a tacky sort of way and if I wasn't closing in on 60 and didn't have love handles and droopy butt, I would wear that sucker myself.  It just makes me smile.  Maybe I should just make a pillow out of it.

While hipsters, Doctor Who and Young Sheldon have made bowties fashionable  that is ONLY for men and the fad is passing and women are just now starting to wear headscarfs again, and I doubt that the bow tie for women will make a comeback soon.  That would have been something i would have ignored unless it was really obnoxious.

In clothing, size, brand and trend are the things that get items viewed and bought and usually in that order.

About a month ago I picked up a 20 gallon bin of rectangle eyeglasses frames, and after sorting and listing them, I haven't sold one of them yet.  I only paid $5 for the bin, and made my money back on the entire pile I bought there from my fedoras, so it won't be a big loss, but i figured that they would get at least a question or two, but barely a view.  Even for the metallic pink and baby blue ones.

You know, I never thought of the bow tie as a "fashion item". To me it was something to dig out each holiday season as Christmas apparel.

Probably somebody there will buy that cute bow tie at Goodwill and put it up for sale leading into next Christmas and SELL it.  Smiley Very Happy

Yes, every so often there are things that I'm sure will sell fast, and they sit like dogs with a command to STAY.   When listings get that stale, I pull them and let some time pass, then rework the listing entirely before putting it back up again.  Usually works.

A beautiful pair of red glass perfume bottles.  I finally decided to give them to myself for Christmas.  Cat Happy  I really loved them anyway.

Any number of books are ones no one wants and have to be cleared out of inventory eventually.

For me a corollary is: books that seem really great but are worth nothing online. It's really hard to find a knitting book worth much for example.  Almost all knitting books of recent dates look nice to me but ...not worth selling.  Many Civil War books are the same. You'd think "ooohh, Civil War book! someone will want it". Maybe, but it's too cheap to bother listing.

Those aren't red and got lost in the shuffle. They are pigeon blood. Depends on the dabber if its still there or broken off and ground smooth.

The worst dog I ever had that wouldn't hunt was a set of twelve salesman sample boat anchors in a wooden display case from the early 1900s. I paid a grand for them and one bid of a $100.00 put them out of my misery...

I do the same thing and I can also vouch that it very frequently works.
