There's a whole other thread about this, long story short, buyer with low feedback bought a tack set (headstall and breastcollar - one of the earlier listings of mine that in my enthusiasm I listed as brand new - i.e. never been on a horse. It had every appearance of being brand new, but like most tack, didn't have packaging or a tag, etc. My mistake, lesson learned, let's not rehashed all that. Already resolved in my other listings)
The buyer that won the auction left a note at check out questioning if the listing said free shipping, why was he/she now being charged shipping.... listing was not free shipping, no. where. I inquired twice before I got an answer, they basically said my bad, must have been another listing.
Buyer gets the tack set, three days after that sends a short: This has sweat stains, why did you say new?
Does not have sweat stains. Didn't argue, just told them it had every appearance of never having been on a horse, it was my mistake, return for refund.
Silence or a few days, then they were back, wanting to know why I listed it as new. *sigh* Buyer got the stock 'return for full refund' reponse from me again, but kept angling around for a nebulous and very unspecific 'something else'.
Return for refund was the only response I continued to give.
Buyer finally opened a standard return case, the note in it said: I don't want to get my money back, I want a different, but brand new set.
(I'm sure you do - pay 30.00 for an unused inexpensive set, then try to whinge and cry and get a 200.00 set just to go away. No I don't think so. Get lost. Return for Refund. Period. Then its a permablock.)
I replied with: I don't have any other sets for sale, I'm sorry.
I accepted the return within minutes, sent a shipping label.
They have until Dec 6 to accept, but since then, not a peep out of this joker.
What happens if they don't ship it back? Am I going to see eBay sweep in and give the buyer their money back even if they never ship it at all?

But yeah, if I get it back and she's gotten it all nasty gross on her own horse (the thought occurred to me) I can still it and resell it in my brick and mortar tack shop.
You have a B&M tack shop and your excuse is that you know nothing about horses and did not know this item was used?
I missed where the OP said (s)he knew nothing about horses. Where is that?

OP revised her post to remove it when I called her on it.

The item was NOT used and showed no signs of use. Did you not read that? Horse tack doesn't always come with nifty protective packaging and safety seals and tags. In fact, unless you buy from a big box retailer like Tractor Supply, it usually has none at all. Most retail BRAND NEW tack has scuffs and signs of being jostled around.
Tack wasn't used. However, the buyer claims it was. Buyer won a 30.00 item, now expects a $200 in exchange. Not happening for a lot of reasons.
Moving along.
No money will go back to this person until I have it in hand. All I wanted to know was what happens if the buyer vanishes and it is NOT returned... because this is a scammer.
And thanks for the gross, tacky generalization that I the seller know nothing about horses. Well done. Now go get a cup of coffee and a less rude attitude. You're welcome.

You are the one who posted that in your enthusiasm you listed it as new when it was not.
And are you denying that the horse part was not in your original thread which you subsequently revised.
AAs for my tude the only one I see showing it is you wth this buyer who purchased something that was SNAD and you glossing over it.
Ebay buyer protection +1.

LOL you are such a troll. I did no such thing. Revised my statement. LOL
Anyway, question answered, so I know what to do next if and when the scammer doesn't send it.

Oh. And.... you can't edit a post in a thread once there are responses or the time allotted for edits are up. You got called out, looked silly and rude like you were, and are trying to continue trolling to save face. You're one of those unhelpful kind of helpers that thinks smart responses and snide comments make you look good. 😉 They don't. Especially when someone legitmately needs the help.
So, here's the deal. I will not give them a brand new 'different' (read that as much more expensive) set. I'll give them their complete refund once I get my merchandise back. But if they won't mail it back, I can't do that, so as soon as the 6th is up, if I've not received it back, I'll just ask CS to close the return case and that little blip will be behind me.
I'll also be ignoring any helpful tips or penetrating questions you see fit to ask me in the future, Emerald.

You are the poster seller for buyer protection.
Lurkers read this thread. It is not my business I am worried about.
You messed up and are trying to blame your buyer and me for it.
As for my help, sorry but I am not going to give you the green light to screw your buyer over even more.
So you have no intention of giving them what you mistakingly listed in the original listing because you do not feel they paid enought for it.
So if you really thought it was a new item, why did you price it so much lower than your other new ones?

Because it was unbranded.

OP, please come back and update us as to what happens.
Thank you!!

Nah I don't think so buyer had unrealistic expectations, anyone who isn't a scammer knows leather goods are going to have some kind of wear YES EVEN NEW ONES especially something as large as a saddle they were banking on this fact trying to scam a more expensive item and you know it, leather is made from the skin of an animal he has marks naturally I bet this piece of scum buyer would cry if the animal had a scar and they saw it god forbid.

The buyer just canceled the return. No further communication from them.
They are now blocked. I suspect they thought I was a true noob and would just fold over and start throwing money their way without getting my products back or bucking up. I thank you all - I may not be new-new, but things have changed a lot and I wasn't expecting all the scammers or ebay to be so favorable to any and every buyer like they are. I'm glad I've been reading along here.
Since its closed, is that over-over? It can't come back to haunt me unless they make new ids or use a different one?

And eBay just released its hold on the funds. So I'm finally paid on it. Yes, they were holding the funds like they do all the 'new' accounts.
Man THAT is getting old. I get why they do it, but geez. Its annoying, especially on small ticket items.
