I'm a new seller sine Feb. this year. I'm only part time because I am disables. After a few month selling my account was doing well for me. I was getting a sale about every day or at least 5 a week. Now NOTHING! I upped my membership about the same time to basic to increase my "no insertion fees" And now no sales. Did I do Something wrong? I was just trying to grow my inventory. Full disclosure I also took down 20 listings for National Geographic (they do not sell individually, I learned the hard way). Is that what stopped my sales? Who should I address my concern to?

There are literally thousands and thousands of threads on this topic. Some even from 1995 when eBay first began. Run a search here and you'll see the results. People have limited funds these days and are spending their money on essentials. Because of all the fraud and virtual stealing on the internet, perhaps many may be hesitant to shop on line. There are multiple reasons for slow sales. Just taking some shots.
All I can advise is to be competitive with your prices, give the best service you can give to your customers and hopefully the holidays will provide us with some financial relief. Hang in there.
Happy Selling!

Thanks! For a while, I thought you were going to beat me to it. lol

Economic data available about what's going on in the world supports the increase in concentration of number of threads here about slow sales.
You are not the only one.

It's multiple factors.
1) Yes, the economy. A lot of people have less disposable income than a year ago. It's not absolute, money is still out there, but its a factor for some items.
2) Sales in any market are not linear. They average out.
3) August /September are tight for a lot of households because of new school years.
4) While listing the 'good stuff'. people list other items. Might as well. The 'good stuff' sells fast. The rest is slower or may not sell at all depending on the item. It does bump your number of listings though and some theories say that helps your visibility.

I've heard that before about listening increasing visibility. Thank you for your affirmation.
Thank you,

Then why do I still have to cruise my Wally World parking lot on a 5+ minute parking space quest??

Take this information as you may.
You are not the only seller who is selling salt and pepper shakers to start a thread about no sales.

You get 250 Free Listings without a Store.
If you subcribe to a Store, those listings are not free.
The 1000 listing available with a Basic Store cost you $25 a month. If you list all 1000, each costs you 2.5cents. If you list 250* each costs you 10cents.
So you are slightly worse off with a Store than without at this point.
Sales go up and down. They can be seasonal.
You got a small bump in Search when you were a newbie.
You get a small bump in Search when you list new items.
Your Triangle purse might do better listed under Purses than under Collectibles.
Books are a hard sell. Check your titles with Addall.com to see how many are available online and the asking prices. Cross check for edition!
*I see 265 listings. Without a Store the extra 15 would cost you $5.25. Still a better price than the Store subscription.

Because Wally world is where people who can't afford to go anywhere else for essentials go.

For me, Wally World is the one-stop shopping venue where I can buy light bulbs, dog food, shampoo, a rotisserie chicken and toilet paper all in one place. Park once, go in and shop, come back out, get in car and go home.

I can see that. For us, all those items (other than the chicken of course!), we get from 'The River'. Where else would I get all my shipping boxes? 🙂

The "new seller boost" is actually simply a lot of new listings, and activity and recency (as well as relevancy) does affect views.
Delisting those Nat Geos won't do anything to your account - I purge my store all the time and so do many others - it's just part of the cycle of restocking, so don't worry.
Just keep listing, try to keep your store "clean" (i.e., take old listings down - after about 90 days they're pretty stale and if they haven't had much viewer action will sink down in search unless they're quite unique, so it's good to rejig them). Not everything sells all the time (all at once), sales are up and down, and sometimes for no rational reason I can see.
There are a lot more stores in my area that are crowded - I could barely get down the sidewalk today for all the people going in and out of them and others sitting outside eating, having coffee, etc.
