What good are DSRS if they don't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe I've read here that DSRs no longer mean anything.  So if that's the case, why does eBay have them????

I just had a customer leave me GLOWING feedback for a magnificent butterfly ring and pair of butterfly earrings.   Along with those I sent her a cute flower bracelet as a gift, that I was sure she would like.  She won it on 5/25.  4 days later I sent her an Invoice (5/29).  It was Memorial Day weekend so I wasn't concerned.  She paid on 5/30 and I mailed it that day.  She received it today, 6/2.   I had 3 days handling but I shipped the day she paid because I had to go out anyway.

I ran a Detailed Seller Rating Report just now figuring it would be 5 stars.  I usually don't have to run it more than once because 5 Stars is 5 stars.  But it came up as 4.72 the first time.  I couldn't believe my eyes so I ran it again and it came up as 4.78.  I ran it a 3rd time and got 4.81.   The ding is for Shipping & Handling.   I'm disgusted.

What is going on????

Last time I ran a report, after I received another GLOWING feedback, I called eBay because I knew my regular customer would NEVER leave me less than 5 stars all the way around and it showed a ding on shipping and handling -- the same carp as today's, but that time I ran it 4 or 5 times until I got the message I had run too many and would have to wait to run it again another day, which is why I called eBay and the Rep told me to click my User ID, click Feedback and put my cursor next to the ratings.  I did and they all were 5.0.

I do not want to call eBay about this if I don't have to.  If someone like alan or trinton can look (on my selling ID) I would appreciate it but I don't want to alert them with the @ if they can't help.

If I find out this buyer dinged my shipping and handling I will put her on by Best Buddy List.

I do not want anyone to ding my stars for anything.  I work too hard to have someone treat me unfairly.

I know, I know, this is petty especially since negs don't matter any more (never had one thank goodness!!!) and I might read that DSRs don't matter either but if she dinged my stars this time, who knows what she might do next time!!!

Thanks for any help.

When I hover over my ratings it still shows 5.0.     But I ran another report just now and got 4.81.

The "hover" is all that a buyer would see.

And most buyers don't look at DSRs

And most of those that do, don't know what they mean.

It's not personal , it's business.

Put her on your BBL if it makes you feel better.

You could also add a Response "Paid 5 May 17 Rec'd 7 May 17. Thanks USPS!"  which would confuse everybody. Smiley LOL

LOL.  Thanks ... but I think you hit the nail on the head.   With me it's NOT business.  It's personal.   If this were just business as usual, more than likely I would never even reply to feedback received.  But I get pleasure from it.   It's all about pleasure and feeling good.

However, if it is possible for alan or trinton or heidi to look at my last 5 - 10 ratings, I would really like that. Does anyone think they might be able to do that for me?

No I don't believe they would. DSRs are left anonymous for a reason. Sure there are tedious and time-consuming ways to find out which buyer left you which rating, but overall they are supposed to be anonymous.

There are some people that don't leave 5 stars for anything. A 4 is considered an excellent rating in their eyes. I think you're stressing over nothing.

Buyers won't even see the ding unless you get several since your overall average is still at 5 which you confirmed when you hovered over the star.

<sigh>  Thanks.  Yes, they are anonymous - to a degree.  We can't see WHO dinged someone's stars just that they are dinged.   And we, as the seller, can tell who dinged our stars .... sometimes, IF the DSR thing is running properly!!  And I don't think it  is!!!

Except that they aren't and really never were.  Even though they assured buyers their ratings would be anonymous to the seller, ebay provided sellers the super secret back door tools to see exactly who left which stars.  If nothing else, it certainly helped perpetuate the buyer against seller mentality.  Now much like the impact they used to hold, the rule against contacting a buyer about them changed too.  Buyers are also told the ratings are no longer anonymous.

Yes, they used to count against sellers.  Now they don't.  Until they do again.

Yes, that is what I meant when I said:

That DSR is for s/h charge, not ship time.

Maybe the buyer thought $2.77 shipping on a $4.50 item was too much?

The result doesn't consider feedback dropoffs?

Why doesn't it concern you that you got 3 different results using the same data?

Yep, I can see who has left me what and it does make me upset to see someone leave me less than 5 stars.   I can't understand the reasoning behind that but hey - that's eBay for ya!

Why obsess over something that doesn't matter?

That's one of my questions.  If they aren't important, if they don't matter, WHY are they there?  For Buyers to DING us with???  Just a little unnecessary kick/ding for a good Seller??   Not on my name.

With as many glitches that happen every time that ebay tries to program something new - do you really want ebay dinking with the programming over something that isn't all that important in the operation of ebay and buyers perception of sellers?

Well, they are dinking with something because it's not working.   It might not be all that important in the operaation of eBay - but they ask the Buyers all those questions to rate us so, in a way it is important, still.

I have found in the past that it takes several days for DSR's to be reflected in a report. If your buyer just posted the feedback today, you'd need to wait 2 or 3 days before they would impact a report. The only way to know who the buyer is would be to run an item number report, one with the transaction and one without.

I used to regularly run reports, I don't recall the last time I did now. They're not worth getting upset over.

Thanks, I agree it might be a good idea to wait until tomorrow.  I was going to send her a message tonight but it's best to wait and see how things pan out in the next day or two.  I'm always so eager to leave fb and ratings when I receive an item I purchase, that I expect it from my buyers.

It does concern me that I got 3 different ratings.  The same thing happened last month and I called eBay about it.  The Rep said it was a "glitch".  He checked and said my account has a 5 star rating.

Feedback dropoffs?  You mean neutrals or negatives?   I've never had one.  And as for DSR reports, I have been running them for a very long time - all 5 stars.

As for $2.77 shipping on a $4.50 item -- I always check the box to show the $2.77 postage paid on the label so the buyer doesn't think I have padded it, even though I have a right to ask for something for the beautiful goldfoil boxes I buy on eBay to ship my items ship in, the bubble wrap I buy, the paper/ink I buy, gas and time driving to the P.O.   But I don't ask for anything.  I only hope for a 5 star positive rating.   That certainly can't be asking too much, can it??

Re: What good are DSRS if they don't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I'm amazed at how much this bothers you. As a buyer, I use them occassionaly in a decision if I will buy or not, but it's pretty rare, or they have an nuetral/negative pattern. I ususally read the feedback left. If there's a consistant, "high shipping charge", or "slow shipping", it let's me know what kind of seller I'm dealing with.

I tend to think my buyer will treat the transaction the same way I do. But I know that's not the case. It's just how I see it first. I pay as soon as the auction is over. Like, Yay I Won! and click Pay Now. I know not all my buyers do that. More and more wait until the next day to pay. Whatever, Ebay sets it up so that they have a minimum of 5 days to pay no matter what.

Same thing with the stars, you taking it so personal for something Ebay has done to you, not the buyer. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to do that either. You can ask for feedback revision but not acknowledge you know what stars they gave you. Yes we can figure it out, but the average buyer only doesn't know that. If everything still shows 5, it's groovy for you. Make getting 4 stars your excuse day for something nice for yourself. Like an ice cream, or a massage, or whatever your thing is.

Me personally, I think they are so subjective, they don't mean a thing. I never leave any stars. I only leave fb that states the facts. I don't need a buch of designs in it, I say how long it took to get, is it what it's supposed to be, anything of note, and thank you. Others can decide if receiving items in 10 days is too long. To me, it's fine, to someone else, that's fuuuurrrrreeevvvveeerrrr. I agree with you, why have them if they don't matter. But you are really stressing out way too much over it.
