Hi,

So this morning I received a message from someone who bought something (I would say he/she bought the item a week ago). The day after they bought the item, I drop the item off for it to ship. This morning TODAY, I receive a message saying that they had the wrong address on file and now I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

MY SCENARIO: After I ship the package a week ago, buyer messages me saying they have a different address than what's on file.

Tell buyer, sorry too late to change address. If they filed a change of address form with the post office, they should get their item OK.

Reach out to buyer and say that e-bay only prints the address the the buyer has on file.

As a seller, you can only ship to the address on file of your buyer. Hopefully, they either moved and put a forwarding address, or they know the people that are at the address that they provided to eBay.

When your item shows delivered, it is delivered. I would message the buyer that you shipped to the address provided and hope that they can work it out with whomever currently resides there.

Yep an easy item not received to to the forwarding of the item. A system that is used to scam the seller.

You don't do anything. You shipped to the address on file, an ebay requirement which protects you. If your buyer files a case against you, you will win. Just save all your correspondence and the tracking showing the package was delivered.

I see you have ben an ebay member since at least 2013. You don't need to do anything but explain to the buyer there is nothing you can do in this type of situation. I suppose if you mailed it to a location less than 20 miles away and you don't mind bothering strangers who may have already opened their "free" package and will conveniently state that they never saw any xyz item in the mail there really isn't a solution for the buyer. What will be interesting is when the buyer opens a case and loses because you did everything correctly.
