I am not being a smartie....
You make your money when you purchase wisely, not when you sell.
You make more money when you buy well in volume and sell in volume. Because you make money on the purchase and then a tad bit more when you streamline the process.

A product's profitability is determined in large part by how much the seller pays for the item.
The same product may be very profitable for one seller, and not profitable at all for another.

Anything I pull out of a dumpster and sell is the most profitable because I got it for free.
Examples:
6' diameter Pratt Whitney sign $350
Jimmy Buffett placard from the 1970s $150
Fender Bandmaster cabinet with original working speakers $600
Considering that I got those for free my profit margin was astronomical!
Treasure is where you find it!

So those cheap phone cases didn't work out for you?
And what happened to the clothing line you were starting?

That is so true.
I don't do dumpsters that often, and there are people around here that have routes, but I hit fundraiser bag sales and will pay $5 for a bag which can break down the cost to aquire items to as little as a nickel a piece. So if I sell one for $20, which I did this morning, that makes my profit margin 400%.
I know plenty of resellers that won't touch an item unless they can make at least $50 off it, that usually means that they are making maybe 10% and not buying or selling a lot.

I've done a some research on that. Heres some things that may be profitable:
1. Books
2. Video Games
3. Lego
It all depends on the item you sell, but these seem to sell a lot on Ebay (sometimes at pretty expensive prices!)
I hope this helps. 🙂
God bless. 🙂

And the second part of that is that the product must generate plenty of sales.
To that point, one might check completed listings to see how many sell/do not sell. If a product sells 50 a day, but 10,000 a day do not sell, that's a tough market unless you have good reasons (price, service, reputation) for buyers to choose your item over all the others.
And a 3rd point, unless you are selling high-priced items with a wide profit margin, you'll need to list a LOT of items to make any real money.

Also, make sure with whatever your selling is allowed on Ebay. 🙂

Cleared $8 on a 30 cent item today. Great percentage, but where am I going with $8.

I have heard that high-end bicycle parts can be quite profitable.

It's better than no sales. $8 is a cheap meal, so I look at every small sale as money that I didn't have yesterday.
