Are you just taking it as a cost of doing business and sitting back and taking it? Increasing prices?
Moving to a new payment processor?
Complaining?

When I called they told me even immediate cancels are still "risky transactions" and that is why they feel the need to keep the fee, whatever that means. They also said they were doing this instead of increasing fees for all transactions.
Risky for whom? Not PP. Once it is refunded they are done.

Que sera sera...C'est la vie!
Worry may not be the right word to use. I too am not worried about it. But I will be tracking these costs closely over the next 3 months so that when I go in to adjust my pricing for the new USPS increases in January, if I have a need to raise pricing a little to cover these extra costs I will do it then. Of course if the costs aren't big enough to be concerned with, pricing will remain the same except for the increases needed to cover the increase for shipping costs and fees associated with that.

I just think you misunderstood. Ebay's contract with PP ends in 2020. And Ebay hopes to have MP site wide by 2021. PP is accepted in MP.
Maybe someday down the road Ebay won't take PP any longer, but it would be a risk since so many buyers only use PP on Ebay.

@usgamecollector wrote:$1? do you have like no sales? I will lose that in a few hours, people always cancelling and saying their kid "accidentally" purchased it or changed their mind.
Always? I've had that excuse exactly once in 20 years on eBay and I sell about 600 items a month.
Anyway, I get about 1 return a month so the fee grab really isn't very impactful.

On what specifically.
How could i clarify for you? It is either insider knowledge that we will receive the 2.9% back, or it is speculation.

You are right, it is speculation but speculation based on available information.
It is highly likely that Ebay would qualify for what is described in the link below.

this is all just smoke and mirrors.I expect I will have to refund 3-4000 next year for my 25 returns, its going to cost me about a hundred bucks on $3000 of returns. No one knows how this is all going to play out.I am quite sure you will have people refusing to cancel a $1000 purchase, they are going to be angry about losing 30 bucks to paypal.
this is going to translate into the seller trying to stick it to the buyers somehow
banks are now looking to raise fees, they can not lower rates anymore, negative interest is not going to happen.Banks are now faced with the task of rasing money thru fees. This is what backfired on Wells Fargo
they are guilty of the worst employee abuse ever thru the tactics that were used to raise money for dumb stuff that was not needed by those who purchased it
I think the sales tax is going to have a much bigger impact

That is a lot of money. Are you not able to resell the products you get back? They are a complete write off?

People are always cancelling. I do not get that excuse every time but that is a very common excuse. I also get the "My phone was in my pocket and accidentally purchased" excuse.
The most common thing is that the buyer needs to change their address, if you're not getting that you're not selling on eBay.

I have very few returns so, this isn't that big of a deal. More frequently, I refund part of the shipping cost when ebay's shipping calculator overcharges on multiple items (fairly common). I have recently been reducing the amount of the refund in these cases to account for the non-refund of the fees.
my return rate is low, if it was only that I could put up with it on small items. The problem I have is immediate cancels which are very common.
