Are you just taking it as a cost of doing business and sitting back and taking it? Increasing prices?
Moving to a new payment processor?
Complaining?

Personally I'm doing NOTHING, I estimate this change will cost me between $0.00 and $1.00 per year.
Into your life it will creep

$1? do you have like no sales? I will lose that in a few hours, people always cancelling and saying their kid "accidentally" purchased it or changed their mind.

So far just taking it. Praying for very few of these issues coming up. Griping does squat. Look what all our griping about eBay has gotten us. More glitches & pain in the fanny time suck problems. Jeez, they're PayPal! They make the rules, we suck it up. Just like feebay does.

Costs for almost everything increase every year, be it PayPal fees or ink and paper. I absorb my overhead costs in my pricing. I looked at last year and figured I would have to absorb an additional .25 per package to handle this increased cost.

I'm surprised it took this long to do it.
After all you are having them to process another payment for you. Doesn't matter if it's inbound or outbound. They're performing another payment transfer and should get something for it.

that's what the $.30 they keep is for. Doesn't cost them $5 to transfer payments

I agree. I have posted this before. The %age that they charge is like insurance against claims in a transaction where they would protect the seller from a loss.
If that transaction is not going to occur (cancel by buyer/seller/whatever) then there is no justification to be keeping the $$$ beyond the $0.30.

nothing- it's a trade off because I get my money immediately for sales via Paypal while with Managed Payments one never knows when the money will come through..

That's pretty much what I expect to "lose" from PP non refundable fees. I rarely get returns, can count them on one hand from 20 years selling. I think it's about which items one sells online that create an excessive amount of returns or remorse purchases. Perhaps you are mainly selling electronics based on your user ID. That's a category rife with returns....
The main reason why PP not refunding fees would actually affect me is that many times my buyers purchase multiple items, then after paying they ask me to combine them into same package. Previously I always did and simply refunded them the extra postage they paid. Now I will continue to refund them but deduct the .30 cents that PP keeps. So still a win/win for buyer as they typically get another $3.50 returned and I won't lose the fee amount....

I'm OK with the 30 cents, but that was the old policy. With them keeping the %age as well, it can add up.
In Sept (think it was Sept) I had 2 buyer error cancels to the tune of $60. Under the new policy they would keep the $1.74 as well. Then there are the immediate cancel request when eBay shows them another item a couple of $$ cheaper that did not show during their search.
