What a nice message to get from ebay

Got an email from ebay to my main account.. All of this is because i got scammed once by some brooklyn resident that did a return switcharoo on me. It is really quite insane that this is something ebay feels that sellers should be penalized for. I wonder how many sellers have become NARU'd because they got scammed.

It is sick that any company is able to operate in this way to be honest and i'm sure in the absense of ebays monopoly this would have never happened because nobody else can afford to be so shortsighted and treat their clients this way.

100% perfect feedback, selling for many years , somewhat high volume, loyal repeat customers etc.

Be scammed, get higher fees on top of the already extremely high fees, get less visibilty, get threatening letters to "change for the better", get your funds on hold und so weiter when you have done nothing wrong and the only thing you could have done to prevent this is to cave in to a scammer at an earlier point, but the outcome would have been the same.. just don't try to fight back is the modus operandi ebay wants us to live by. Like what the heck.. How does any of this make any sense? There is no wonder that scammers have it easy on ebay when they on top of having no problems getting free items also have the ability to ruin their sellers account by 1. Being the only part that is able to leave negative feedback and 2. make their victims account reduced or maybe even banned. Under these conditions i am sure a lot of sellers just give the thieves what they want. Just think about it.. someone who does not create revenue for ebay is able to permanently shut of a what has been a long-term money stream for them. This is not something a business that intends on growth would be able to do.. it is like if a workshop decided to give customers higher bills if they took their car to service because how dare they have a car with faults, but the outcome in that situation would obviously be that the customer then bought a different brand car with a less nonsensical approach to customer service because none of this would be possible if not for ebays monopoly.

Of course we do see lots of stories about the injustice going on at ebay reading on this forum, but i often wonder about the stories we never hear about which is sure to be many. Probably lots of instances that ruin everything for many without them having any way of fixing the problem. I can only imagine the feeling they must have where they have been scammed for something expensive only to being furter penalized by ebay who somehow feels like they are in the right to treat them that way.

ebay expects an unaitanble level of service from their sellers which is quite ironic considering what a horrible service they provide for us.

Your seller level is still below standard in the United States. You may be permanently restricted if you don’t meet the following requirements:

  • Defect rate below 2%

  • Cases closed without seller resolution below 0.3%

You can continue to sell on eBay for the time being, but we have put limits on your account in accordance with the terms in the user agreement:

  • Search rankings for your items are lowered

  • Limits in how many listings you can have on eBay may apply, please refer to your seller dashboard

  • Funds from your sales may be pending

  • You may be charged a higher final value fee on items sold in this region

  • You may be restricted from selling with other accounts or registering a new account

  • You will not be able to use the partial refund tool to resolve buyer claims

  • You will be blocked from using the Promoted Listings tool. If you currently use the tool, you won’t be able to create new or edit existing campaigns.

Well, every website on the planet has their share of scamming customers so you cannot blame ebay entirely for that. It’s an epidemic all over. Especially with Credit cards. The internet has become the new shoplifting paradise.

Agree with you but the biggest difference with a lot of other websites and forums is they don't condone and support the scamming process. There is a balance between the buyer and seller protection that is far superior in many cases to the eBay's the buyer is ALWAYS in the right regardless.

Absolutely, if eBay registered to sell on eBay they'd have to ban themselves inside of 30 days.

You don't fall Below Standard from a single transaction-- eBay has specifically set up the metrics to prevent that from happening. What other defects are showing on your dashboard?

The thing I hate the most is how they want to discourage you from fighting scams with the whole "you CAN contest it, BUT if you lose (you will) then you earn a defect, lose your final value fees and any negative feedback will not be removed.

It give the appearance and rightful belief that even if you know you are being scammed, you will be punished if you resist.

It's like some mafia stuff. "That's a pretty nice account you got there, sure would be a shame if you rocked the boat and something happened to it"

O there is. You can obtain a number of data mining software packages, some legal, some not so much that you can use to obtain more information that you would believe regarding an individual. All you need is a name, address, phone number, email account or a number of other single pieces of information to start a search.

There is more to your story. If a buyer did a switcharoo as you say that means you authorized the return and there would not have been any defects. It also takes more than one or two times for you to refuse Ebay's money back guarantee to a buyer. It sounds like when a buyer has a problem you ignore Ebay's messages and procedures.
