What Would You Do?

So, I sold an item today. After making the purchase the buyer sent me a message that I am assuming was a question about the color. Her message was kind of vague. I answered her about 7 hours ago. She didn't imply she was thinking about changing her mind, but still... Technically I have until Tuesday to send it out (2 business day handling) but normally I would mail it tomorrow. Should I hold off and see if/how she replies to my message, or just mail it out since she already paid for it and everything.

What is your gut telling you?  You might want to go with that.

If you do have time, as you say you do, it probably wouldn't hurt to wait.  You may not hear from her anyway, but you will have given it a chance.

Her vague messages doesn't help, and what I have said doesn't, either, but I would hate to see you ship and then she says she changed her mind, you know.

Good Luck with it, Cherry!

You might want to clarify with her; something about If the color is not to your liking, please let me know as I would be happy to cancel this for you if you would like me to.

Just  a thought.  Since the buyer is vague, she might not get back to you with anything and this would clarify things.

I think I will do that. It's a manufacturer's color name, and she said she has seen the color, and it is very hard to photograph for some reason. I've never had such a problem capturing the correct color in a listing. I think she was just asking if it was the right color because my photo is not perfect, and looked so different. So I'll just ask to make sure, but if I haven't heard anything by Monday evening I'll just go ahead and mail it.

Thanks castle!

I would reach back out to the buyer and see if they want to proceed with the sale. I had just had a problem buyer who asked questions directly after purchase  and I wish I would of went with my gut and cancelled rather than shipping and dealing with the aftermath. It ended well for me, but was a headache and a huge waste of time.

You're welcome, it was my pleasure!

Just really concerned when you said she was vague.  Vague may not have thought to specify just what they want you to do, if anything, if the color isn't what they think it is.

Just not happy about the vague part.

I know that she said she has seen it, but confirmation doesn't hurt, I think.

Hold off, and DO NOT cancel unless the buyer requests it.

Cancelling on a buyer sets you up for negative feedback and a nasty defect that only a few of can put you in ebay jail forever.

The time for questions is before the purchase not after & I would wait since you have the handling time  & if you don't hear in a day reach out again and offer that you are concerned they are expressing doubt about the color & offer to cancel

Did you check the feedback left for others?
The hair on the back of my neck went up when I had a dress and it was hard to describe the exact color if it was a Peach or Coral
1 message from this buyer & she went on my list & I do not block someone easily

This is only a SMALL sample & no it is not a buyer who only leaves the negatives & neutrals for sellers as many posters & staff seem to point to anytime a post about buyers like this one come up

I recall someone on one of the boards posting how they deal with color.  I can't remember their name, but they said they keep a box of Crayola crayons on hand and uses them as a color guide, both in writing the description and in photos along with the item.   I have since seen many clothing sellers using this method.  That may help in some situations, especially what you see on your screen is not necessarily what others see on their screens.

Another method is to match the color of your item to the PMS color system, which is standardized. Put the PMS color number in your description. (You would need a PMS swatch book.)  I do this for some of my items that have no manufacturer color names.

Since you don't have to ship until Tuesday, I would wait and try to get clarification from the buyer.

I would send the buyer an email ask her whether she still wants the item, otherwise, you will gladly refund her payment.  A vague question about the color could lead to a return once the item is received.

I ship everything as soon as it's paid for.

There's a thing called "phone".  Use it.

Good luck!
