Why does it seem eBay locks the door for 2-3 days weekends now??  Last weekend Fri-Sun = 0 sales.  This weekend = 1 sale on Fri.  Nothing on Sat/Sun.  Really getting to be a horrible trend!  5-6 straight weekends have been this awful.  Any reason for it?  At least the flea market treated me well.  eBay is making my decision really easy about limited my business here.  Although, how much more limited can it be?!   lol   Have a good night.     🙂

Weekends and weekdays are the same trend. Sales are, pretty much, nonexistent. If this is because of the infamous "throttling" then this site is only shooting itself in the foot. Sellers are angry and will not fall for promoted listings when the basic thing is that your efforts to list are met with visibility and subsequent sales. It is beyond ridiculous at this point.

We sellers pay fees, and a high one, after all. How come a company is hiding listings when it's in their best interest to get 10% to 12% of every sale? I have never seen such a decline from a former major company.

My assumption is they determined it is more profitable to collect the monthly listing fee than have actual sales.

My November this year is turning out to be the worst month of this year.  But I haven't put much effort in either.  Need to list more "really good" things to make some sales.

This account I haven't sold anything in over 3 months now.  Used to sell 1-2 items a month without adding anything new.

This is only going to cause more of a backlash. Sellers who had stores are opting out and other sellers are moving on to other places. I haven't, but I'm in the process of researching to do so. This is a dead place and it's worthless to get promotions, such as free listings and reduced FVF's, when you don't sell anything or clear $30 or $40 bucks in November which is, basically, Christmas season already.

It's simple cause and effect. If sellers don't make sales, that means they will not buy here. Not only is this site losing the FVF's but also losing customers because of this mess. I used to be careful when posting, in fear of throttling or some other issue, but I don't care anymore. This place is not even a shadow of what it was a year ago.

I will be looking at other sites during tax season. Time to move on to bigger and better things that aren't dying like eBay.

I've found the same the past few months ever since the upheaval with changing the item specifics. I think more harm was done than good because I've been watching a few sellers who haven't updated their IS. The items are still listed and are still selling - so are the item specifics the end all - no - if someone is able to view your item - it will sell - item specifics or not.

I do believe that search has been affected in a way due to the changes and items not searched for are popping up even more due to an IS that is filled in that may reflect a specific for items in a totally different category as they contain similar IS.

Diversifying not only items but also venues will only help to grow your business. No one these days should use only one venue.

That is my opinion as well.   After 19 years of at least good sales - if not great - and despite increased competition year over year -  2019 is the first to have been a complete disaster.

AND it has been the same for all four of my accounts - each selling in different categories.    While it is not unusual for one account to have an off year - that has always been offset by the other three.

I've written this year off since my annual two week holiday break is not far off.    The week after Christmas through the end of March historically account for 35-40% of my yearly sales so if sales in 2020 don't recover then - I will sell off my remaining inventory on craigslist, and close at least three of my accounts in April    I don't need any more eBay aggravation like many of us have experienced in 2019.

In my case, sales are better this year than a year ago, but nothing like they were 10 years ago or longer.   I attribute that to the competition that exists now over what was around back then.   To lament this change doesn't help anything, but I am grateful to have been able to take advantage of ebay back in the day.

My sales fluctuate now in the same general vicinity depending on the amount of better items I currently have for sale.  I know when I need to do better in my search for items to list and my sales reflect that.

How come nobody ever considers that the items they're selling aren't as popular as they thought/dreamed, or that the popularity/demand has simply faded with time?

eBay is not broken, not throttling, not shutting down on weekends.

The items being offered just don't have the audience/popularity/demand they once did.

Perhaps it's time to look at a different line of products.

Agreed, I completely stopped buying here, and most of my sales are on other platforms. Hoping something turns around here, but I've been hoping that for a couple of years now 😞

Some people are busy on weekends and use the computers/ebay during the week when they are at work.

parents can use the internet/ebay more freely during the week when their kids are at school.  they are busy driving and going to their activities over the weekend especially if they are in any sporting events.

Don't forget the person that is glued to the tv all weekend watching football or whatever they watch., I don't even go to a bar on a sunday anymore.  I go to socialize and learn about the good deals around but you go on a sunday it is all football even the **bleep** talk so I cannot make money there so I learned to do other things that day.

I had my best Sunday night in a while, did 11 pieces for 3000.Sunday nights are always my best with my auctions ending, had some decent stuff end last night.I expect sales will be the same for me in the next 16 months as I normally try to auction the same number of pieces every week, sale are fairly consistent year to year at about 2500 pieces sold
