How can eBay indicate that there is a watcher without a view?

Re: Watchers

You are able to watch an item without clicking on and viewing the page.

You click the heart in search results.....

Re: Watchers

Click View Listings of a seller and anyone can click the heart to watch an item and never see the listing.

Have a great day.

Re: Watchers

Apparently some watch direct from the search results without even viewing the item page.

Why anyone would do that who knows.

Probably the same buyers who go on to buy the item straight off their watch list. Then claim the item, they imagined, is not as described.

Because it's faster and easier than opening up every listing to add to a watchlist or add to cart.

Let's say I do a search and get 200 matches, I can skim though the list,  click the heart of the ones that look interesting and when I'm finished go to my watchlist to sort out which one of many I might actually want to have a closer look at  and perhaps buy.

Re: Watchers

Also, depending on where you are looking for view count, it is a rolling 30 days.  So here are two examples of my items that have zero 30 day views ( 😞 ) but multiple watchers.

On Invaluable.com and LiveAuctioneers.com I frequently heart items from search results

Either when I am researching items I own or am planning a future purchase and wish to budget what I might expect to pay.

I do not need the detailed info until later.

I watch without viewing all the time. I do this when running comps in the wild and the watch is to pick the item I want to sell similar from once I get home to list.

Re: Watchers

Views are counted every thirty days.  A buyer can elect to watch a listing and after 30 days that original view is no longer counted.

I guess it suits some buyers.

For myself in my refined searches I also go by day ending so I'll only get a dozen or so results that catch my eye. So I'll look at them there and then rather than later when they might get jumbled up with other search results.
