I had an item listed with a best offer option. The buyer sent me an offer and wrote a note along with the offer stating he would also cover the shipping cost. I accepted and sent out the invoice without the full amount of the shipping and the buyer paid that. After getting back from the post office I contacted the buyer and asked for the additional money for shipping. Needless to say he refused..saying it was too much money. I then contacted ebay and put in a dispute. Somehow the note form the best offer now was changed to " I WOULD COVER THE COST OF SHIPPING " it was in my ebay name!! Has anyone had anything like this??

Again, it says FROM YOU, that YOU will cover shipping costs. It does not say TO YOU from the buyer.

Yes!! Yes!! That's my whole point!! He somehow switched it to say I would cove the shipping .. think about it .. why would I take less money and not charge shipping ??? Does that make sense???

I don't know how message ID's could be switched.
However. It doesn't matter. Messages mean almost nothing on ebay.
You charge what you want to receive. Promises to pay more through messages are unenforceable committments.
You charge what you want to receive, period.

Yes I understand that.. more importantly and the main info I was trying to get on this discussion was if anyone else had a similar experience.. that's all..

I wonder if that is an eBay typo in the Offer notification form meant to say message FOR, not message from?
What does it say on your other offer messages? Message FOR or message FROM? Do you have any others to compare?
For the record, it still doesn't matter at this point what was said in the message. As noted above, it's not enforceable unless it's included in the listing. Next time update the shipping cost on the listing before the buyer purchases the item.

No, you weren't hacked. You were duped into paying for the shipping, and by your own actions (he paid the invoice that YOU sent him)..

Ok. I have never heard of this happening, but I'm sure it's possible with all the strange ebay glitches.
Here's the secret to selling on ebay: Paypal. That's it.
What you receive in Paypal, cleared payment, ok to ship, is all you are ever going to get.
What else you need to remember-- ship only to Paypal address, not ebay address if different than Paypal address. Get online signature confirmation if $750, and much lower than that depending on what your risk limit is. Get insurance also depending on your personal risk limit. Ebay automatic insurance for free is $50 for non-trs and $100 for trs. One more thing, get acceptance scan.
And that's about it. Selling on ebay in a nutshell.

If a buyer doesn't put their money where their mouth is, don't trust them, correct.
That's why you charge what you want to receive.

Your 2nd screenshot is ebay telling you that you received the offer and your response to the offer~~"Message from thegoodthebadtheugly". This was sent to you by ebay and you responded accepting the offer. There is no way the buyer could hack into your ebay messages and change your acceptance of his offer.
Since you were convinced this listing was for 1 item did you think you got a FANTASTIC offer and were willing to cover the shipping from your HUGE profit?

You said: "I already said that.. my entire post was to find out if.. has anyone else had there account compromised.. very simple.. stop delving into what I did and didn't do."
And to answer your question... Nobody here got hacked, including you.

worse part...that was actually the second purchase...i had done it before but the seller said they'd cancel it... i thought i had hit a button on the computer while doing all the ebay stuff...so never thought about it being a butt dial... or could this be ebay's new way...ummm..
and i keep the phone there in case i fall, cut something..gardening gets rough and it's my. "i fell and can't get up" ... I am just glad it wasn't more expensive too..I learned from it....but(butt) what a mess and a pain...."ebay, I've butt bought it, and I can't get out of it"
Several cures for this. Don't have ebay application open. Don't have one touch buying. Don't carry phone in back pocket. Don't have one touch wake up phone.
I think one touch buying is dangerous, both ebay and paypal were hacked, remember?
