I had an item listed with a best offer option. The buyer sent me an offer and wrote a note along with the offer stating he would also cover the shipping cost. I accepted and sent out the invoice without the full amount of the shipping and the buyer paid that. After getting back from the post office I contacted the buyer and asked for the additional money for shipping. Needless to say he refused..saying it was too much money. I then contacted ebay and put in a dispute. Somehow the note form the best offer now was changed to " I WOULD COVER THE COST OF SHIPPING " it was in my ebay name!! Has anyone had anything like this??

@thegoodthebadtheugly I am confused. You said the buyer agreed to pay for shipping, and then you sent an invoice to them with shipping cost removed (or lowered) and expected them to pay for it later? Why?

Maybe it was listed with free shipping to start with? I'm as confused as you are @copper.boom.

@tiramisu41 Ah, yes, you are correct. All of the OP's ended listings have free shipping.
I guess the seller accepted a lower offer thinking they would get extra $ for shipping, and it was either a mis-communication with the buyer or the buyer took advantage somehow.
It's difficult to tell with such limited info. Hopefully the OP will provide more details so we can try to help.

I know that best offers keep the shipping terms as they were on the listing. You should have changed the shipping terms before making or accepting the best offer. That could be why it is still showing you as paying the shipping costs. So you are saying there is no longer any correspondance proving your buyer offered to pay shipping? And you mailed the package expecting to get paid for shipping afterwards?

When the buyer said he would cover shipping costs he didn't mean he wold cover shipping costs. He was puffing. Only when he has paid the excess shipping cost does he mean he would cover shipping costs. Your contract is the invoice that's why he should have received a corrected invoice with the proper amount before shipping. Unfortunately, many people are not as honest as you. Treat all strangers at arm's length.

I was stupid!! I thought I could trust the buyer since they had 900 transactions. I sent out the invoice then rushed down to the post office. I then sent him an email for the additional $63.00 " as per the note included in the best offer that they would cover the shipping cost". Somehow after I began complaint against the buyer the note was now changed to MY EBAY NAME stating "I would cover all shipping " ..Just to also add the buyer sells computer parts and programs ...so he knows his way around the computer
Well, I'm confused also. You sent out an Invoice and then rushed right down to the P.O., and mailed the package without first receiving payment?

Sorry, I edited my post and was correcting what I had not understood and got a big RED message that my Edit Time had EXPIRED.
What I was going to ask was --- you trusted your buyer would pay from an Invoice you sent for shipping after thay already paid for the item without shipping?

I don't see anything in your sold list that would cost $63.00 to ship. Was this a deal made outside ebay? I'm asking because if you accepted his best offer why did you send him an invoice? He should have been able to just pay you through pay pal. Why did you send him an e mail asking for the additional money for shipping? Why didn't you just invoice him through pay pal? I see no way the buyer could have changed a message to you after the fact putting your name on the message and removing his own.
When you offer free shipping and accept an offer the shipping remains the same~~free. The offer you accepted included shipping cost no matter what any messages said. If you tried to charge $63.00 shipping on any of the items you show as sold I wouldn't pay it either.

Yes .. I was stupid for not getting the full shipping paid before sending it out.. the buyer said he would cover all shipping cost.. could not figure out how much it would be without first going to post office.. so once I was there I just shipped it... my main concern was how he changed the name on the email from his name to my name..

Also the follow up emails between me and the buyer all mention him paying the extra shipping cost like we originally planned on.. he didn't realize it would cost that much .. and he states that.. somehow he changed the email to make it look like I was the one who would cover shipping

It was too confusing for the eBay people to figure out.. they could not comprehend that I was somehow hacked into .. if they would have understood the follow up emails between me and the buyer it was clear he was to pay the full cost of shipping.

I was selling 4 items .. each item was $50 with $15 per item to ship.. he made offer $30 per item for ALL 4 items .. with him covering the full shipping cost.. as per the note he sent me in the best offer.. I would not have agreed to $30 per item if I was going to pay the extra $63 to ship.

I was definitely hacked into by this guy .. he sells computer equipment .. programs.. etc..
