So I was creating some drafts today, and noticed a new option at the bottom to offer "volume discounts". Just wondering if anyone uses this option, and does it help with increasing sales? Also, I'm guessing it will also give the volume discount even if you honor a best offer for a buyer. So opinions on this, does it help sales?

Yes I use it on certain items, such as adapters for Christmas villages that buyers might want to purchase more than one of. I don't use it on decorative items that usually buyers want only one of at a time.

Do you also do best offer on the same items, or just have a fixed price?

I use it, but it can be a problem. buyers click on buy it now, pay, then buy another item. then they want to know why they didn't get the discount. You have to include payment instructions that tell the buyer to add all the items to the shopping cart before purchase, or you will end up giving a paypal refund (and losing fees) to make the price right.

I don't use Best Offer on those listings - not sure you can use both at the same time. But I only use BO on items priced higher than $25 and most of my volume items are lower priced than that. I don't use BO on lower priced items because to even pack and ship such items as singles uses so much time & money as to not be worth the effort, no profit in it.

There is a "quantity" box the buyer can use to choose how many they are buying. I haven't had a situation where they have asked for a post-purchase refund, but I can see that it could happen.

I have some garden stepping stones that I sell. Sometimes people only want one as an accent. But I recognize that some people might want several to create a pathway.
I offer them with free shipping and I recognize that shipping 2,3, or4 in a single box is cheaper than shipping them individually.
So I offer discounts on the price for 2,3 or 4.
I have had a couple of people take me up on it. But in fairness not enough to really make much of a blip.
There are some other products I could probably apply that program to. But based on the limited response I am not sure I will take the time to do it.

There are certain items i sell where 3 of them will fit perfectly in a Priority Mail flat rate padded envelope.
I would like to offer a volume discount if a customer buys 3. I am unable to give a discount on 3 unless I also give a discount on 2.
I wish it would let me discount 3 items without discounting 2 items.

I use volume discounts on all of my variation listings. I have a good response from buyers.

I've used it on commodity items that are consumable and it has led to additional sales.
The key thing for me is that they are light items that ship first class and selling multiple items together significantly increases the profit margin per item.

It looked like you can set the discount rate for each quantity. Could you just not set it at 0% on one and two, but do a % off with three?

Thank you! I'll try that.

What I sell is so eclectic, I wish it could apply to all my listings instead of just for the categories. I enjoy combining items sold and it does seem it would increase sales, for the shipping too.
