Hi!

What kinds of video games are you wanting to sell?

There are currently 380,000+ video games listed on eBay. Can you be a little more specific? I haven't sold mine, yet. But it can be lucrative.

Keep in mind that gaming items can attract scammers as well as shoppers. As a new buyer, you may get targeted if you are selling pricey goods. Learn all you can about how eBay works so that you are as well versed in eBay policy as the fraudsters are. Pay special attention to the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

Good luck to you and wish you much success.

As others mentioned it would kind of depend on the type of games you are selling. There are some vintage and collectable video games that are worth a considerable amount of money but there are also a lot of common lower priced/value games out there.

You have been on eBay for a long time but are not a high volume seller but I am sure you are aware of and understand the terms and conditions you sign up for as a seller on eBay. Understand the fees you pay, the risks you assume (read the Money Back Guarantee)..........

You are located in New York and this may be an item you might want to consider selling locally. I am sure there are a LOT of stores in NY that buy used video games and while they may not offer as much you have to balance that against the fees and risks you take selling them online.

Yes, people are having success selling video games.

All you need to do is search eBay for sold items in the video game category to figure that out.

Actually it is one of the best categories to sell on Ebay. BUT you have to have the right ones in demand and at the right price. ALWAYS check SOLD listings when making the decision at it makes 1,000% difference. There are many wackos who will ask $300 for a $50 game.

The decision might involve whether to sell them singly or in lots.

For your garden variety video game I have some success selling in lots but it's not big money.

I have been successful liquidating games on e-Bay that were not selling in my store. As an example, I had three copies of WET on PS-3; none of which were moving. I listed and have sold two, each for an acceptable profit.

In my opinion, selling on the Internet is a matter of offering what buyer's desire at a prince they are willing to pay AND with a profit the seller deems acceptable.

I sell video games I want to be a full time seller on video games.

Video Games is an easy and also very difficult market.

Everyone will purchase your Mario game, but there are many many Mario games to compete with - therefore it is difficult to ask much above going market rate.

Once you venture outside of basic titles like Mario, Kirby, Yoshi

It becomes much more difficult to sell individual items - therefore you must have many many or lot them together.

Obviously video games sell very well, it all depends on how much your inventory cost is - you will be competing with everyone who does have an edge over what you are trying to do.  Many people have the ability to buy video games next to nothing (trade-ins, lucky finds, mispricing items found in attic storage, etc)  If your goal is to sell video games for a profit, my advice is to first source video games for far below market rate, which is next to impossible already unless you are a thief or an established store that purchases trade ins.

My strategy to compete is to focus on fast shipping and an enormous selection, and I am still barely meeting $25 in profit a day.

Tough market for me!

I can also add that -

The general public relies on PriceCharting.com to understand the value of their games - but this dataset is highly flawed - it completely ignores the idea that games are sold as lots, as best offer, or a private listing, or even misnamed or item specifics are wrong.  A smart person could certainly exploit this discrepancy of reality vs the "data".

You could always analyze eBay listings to purchase inventory directly, but video games are priced quite accurately by most people (if not high), it takes a lot of digging and guts to purchase lots of games with the intention of making a profit - it is there but if you are mistaken you will be left with much product that will not move (look at my inventory ;))

In my area, I do not have the ability to source games (i found a few, maybe a dozen total) - it would be time and cost prohibitive with gas costs.  I would only attempt to go into the video game sales if you can figure out how to effectively source inventory - otherwise I would just be an everything seller and just buy good video game deals as you see them

Lucky, in my B&M, games are a good seller. This past Sunday, as an example, I moved 23 in 5 different formats. My experience with games and e-Bay is that, when successful, it is only with very rare and/or sealed product.

Due to the uncontrollable factors of the USPS, state sales taxes that affected competitiveness and e-Bay changes, I choice to not list either my personal collections or purchase stock to sell on the Internet. I am strictly a liquidator of what I have failed to move out of my store or that sells for more than my customers are willing to pay. That decision has rendered me immune to that of which I have zero control. I simply roll with the seemingly constant changes.
