I've been buying 45's lately and having a great time with it. Bought a collection of 50 random for 15.00 from a seller here and loved it. So I bought a collection 0f 100 for 18.89, (Aug 25) also great. Bought another 100 same seller 18.89 on August 31.
The other records arrived very fast. This last collection did not. Tracking number there as of the 31st but no movement at all. I messaged the seller yesterday being concerned that something may have happened. I also looked at the 'original' listing to see what the est delivery times were and here's where it gets weird. The price for the 100 had gone to 99.95 Item 140685894581. Yikes. And I could not get to the original listing at all.
So I checked feedback to see if there was activity, and yes there is. Then I went to the sellers SOLD listings and can't find my item at all for Aug 31st. I also went to Aug 25 when I bought the previous 100, it's not there either.
The seller has not responded and I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. How could this happen? I checked my bank account and the 2 payments of 18.89 are there...no refund for the missing 45's. I am boggled. What should I do next? I know I should wait till the last day of est delivery before opening an INR, and hope I get a response from the seller but how could the sales have vanished like this?

We all do see that the seller has revised the price to $99. 95. We have even posted a theory about why he did it.

Not sure how you got to my purchase history when I could not....dang.
If I click on the "1,179 sold" at the top of the listing, I can see the list of the most recent sales, including the 3 sales to somebody (you, of course) with 2,422 feeedback.

Add Tags..." It's not GTC...it's a multiple, appeared as 28.89 for 100 45's...he's sold lots. But I can't find mine.
It is a Good Until Canceled listing, nevertheless the reason it doesn't show up in his Sold listings is because it's a mutli-item listing that hasn't ended yet.

USPS media mail can sometimes arrive as quickly as first class mail, other times it just seems to sit for a week to 10 days somewhere. That may be the problem.

Maybe a bit more Chardonnay will help, but no more buys. And I buy here a lot.
You shouldn't feel like an idiot, unless something like this happens to you on ebay many may not understand I see things 1st hand & don't understand either.
They do some odd things it's not you.
I have 3 in purchase history that make me shake my head as ebay allows seller to keep an item # & count of solds but let them change the entire listing , Title, pictures, Categories .
I sent Trinton emails about my purchase history back in Feb. he had no answer !
In Jan I purchased 2 different Wood stove fans from different sellers on different dates.
Later in purchase history I saw an item I never purchased (A Robotic Vacuum) When I clicked on solds I saw my user ID there . It was the item # and seller of my stove fan. The entire item was different but I could still click to see my purchase .
My old bubblewrap purchase has been changed to a hammock
Here is a screen shot of 2 items in my purchase history that have pictures of items I never bought but are the item number from my stove fans and are the seller I bought from.
ebay is allowing this and couldn't answer me why.
That above vacuum is still active & selling for $179.99 not my $24.99 stove fan !!!!!
2nd item was from a different seller but another stove fan as my friend wanted one and the 1st one I bought was sold out.
Now this shows in purchase history as a Wireless remote voice for Alexa and was selling for $9.99 and just ended Aug14th
You can see me in Purchase history for $21.99 Jan 16th but never bought this item mine was a fan .

The only limit on changing a fixed price listing is during the final 12 hours; before that you can change anything: title description, images, price, shipping, etc. It would be impossible for eBay to police listing changes to prevent sellers from changing from one item to another. Exactly where would you draw the line? A different model of fan? A different piece of wood stove equipment?
Scammy sellers have been known to run up a high Sold number for an underpriced cheap item, then switch the listing into selling a pricey electronics item. The listing looks credible because of the Sold count, unless the potential buyer clicks through to see exactly what was sold.

I have a theory/idea of what/why you're seeing the above, @labs118.
My guess is your seller is using GTC listings. Seller lists whatever item with multiple quantities available -- say it's the fan you bought. When quantity of that item gets down to say a quantity of one, seller goes in and revises the listing and uses that same GTC listing/item number to sell a different item -- the vacuum.
So, when you go in and look at your buying history, it's going to show whatever product/pix/pricing is currently associated with that item number.
How is this possible? Well, the only thing you can't change once you post a GTC is the duration unless you do it within two hours of creating the listing. Even if you have sold some items from your GTC listing, you are still allowed to do the following:
So, why is a seller doing this? Well, one big reason is that the selling history stays intact with a GTC listing. If the seller has found items that sell well, the longer the GTC stays up, the better selling metrics the item has which means the higher it ranks in search which in turn helps increase the chances the seller will sell even more items using that same GTC item number.
If you want test my theory, over time keep checking your purchase history and see if "what you bought" changes yet again. You bought a fan, right now it says you bought a vacuum. Three months from now it may indicate you bought a hand mixer, etc. That's happening simply because the seller is using the same GTC item number to sell whatever next he/she wants to move and whatever that presently may be is why when you look at your purchase history the current item being sold under that item # is being displayed.

- Decrease the price
- Edit the title
- Change the primary and secondary category
- Change the quantity and Store category
- Add or remove optional listing upgrades. (Fees may apply if you add listing upgrades, and you won't receive a refund for any listing upgrades you remove)
- Add to the description
- Add or change photos using eBay photo services
- Lower the Buy It Now price of your item
- Increase or decrease the number of items for sale
- Edit the shipping details. However, buyers who made a purchase prior to any shipping detail changes are charged the original shipping cost during checkout

Thanks I will watch it, the one already ended Aug 14th so after I bought my friend the fan it switched to the $9.99 remote voice control & never switched to anything instead it ended now.
I will keep my eye on the vacuum one & see if it does switch to aother different item

I am also wondering if the seller went on vacation and just hasn't put up a statement of that. But he/they are still shipping individual 45's, could be a helper I guess.
Well @moondogblues, just because a seller is doing something doesn't mean that he/she is supposed to be doing it, nor does it mean that eBay will necessarily catch them doing it. That may very well be the reason why the seller continues to do it -- the age-old, "just because you're speeding and don't get a ticket, doesn't make speeding right" argument.
As far as getting in touch with your seller have you looked at the transaction record to see if there is a phone number and/or direct email address listed? You might try either of those and see if you can make contact. Sometimes sellers don't necessarily pay very close attention to eBay Messages or even the copies that are sent to their email address by eBay. Due to the quantity of messages eBay pumps out, a lot of eBay stuff ends up in spam folders. Or, you could try calling eBay (shudder), explain the problem, and see if they have any suggestions about how to get in contact with the guy. Trying an alternate method of contact might yield better results than just trying via eBay Messaging.

Strictly speaking, it's a listing number not an item number. If a listing ends and you relist the same item, the new listing has a new listing number.

True @nobody*s_perfect, but not if you're talking about a GTC listing. It just keeps rolling on as long as there is inventory to "feed it." The listing number doesn't change because the item/listing is considered active until it's ended/cancelled.
09-10-2018 04:45 PM
That's what I thought I said: A GTC listing will keep the same listing number even if you revise it to sell a different item. The number is assigned to the listing, not to the item.
