I had a buyer purchase 3 scuba sets from me over the weekend and I shipped them Monday.
Tracking shows I brought them to the PO on Monday but they never moved until yesterday and these were Guaranteed Delivery.
Has anyone had a late package yet with GTD? English is a second language for my buyer so I'm not sure what to do. I got a message yeterday that just said "It is 27 I didn't get it"
No response since.
These are relatively expensive sets and costly to ship so I'm trying to figure out what happens now if he needed them for a trip.
Any help is appreciated.

You won't pay anything
https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/shipping/ebay-guaranteed-delivery.htmlLate Delivery Protection
Through the end of 2018, if a guaranteed item arrives late, eBay will always make it right for your buyer with one of these options:
- Shipping cost reimbursement
- Voucher for a future eBay purchase
- Free return label if the seller accepts returns
After the end of the year, eBay will continue to make it right when items arrive late and buyers make a claim, as long as the seller met their handling time commitment.
That's if the buyer keeps the item.
Option 1 - Buyer keeps item and requests shipping reimbursement as compensation.
Option 2 - Buyer keeps item and requests voucher for future eBay purchase as compensation.
Option 3 - Buyer returns item and eBay provides a free return label.
OP wants to know if they'll have to refund the original shipping if buyer chooses option 3.

If the item you bought with Guaranteed Delivery doesn’t arrive on time, we’ll make it right.
To let us know, you can either:
Next, select an option to let us know how we can make it right for you. You may be able to:
That’s all you have to do! We’ll process your request right away. Just make sure that you let us know within 30 days from the guaranteed delivery date.
Note: Vouchers will be available in checkout before you pay and they expire 30 days from the date they’re issued.
As long as you got an acceptance scan within your handling time eBay will cover the cost of a voucher, a shipping refund or the cost of return shipping. Your listing offers 30 day returns so if the buyer chooses to return the item eBay would pay return shipping and you would refund the buyer. I don't think the label provided by eBay will be insured, FYI.
I don't know if you would be responsible for refunding the original shipping cost like you would with a SNAD.

Nope, never had a problem with an item not getting scanned with GD. It's worked well for me so far.
Sorry, this happened to you, it's annoying when the PO does this kind of stuff.

To let us know, you can either:
- Find the Guaranteed Delivery information in your order emails and click let us know. Then click Report delivery issue on the order details page.
- Find your item in My eBay under Purchase History and select Report late delivery from the More actions drop-down menu.
Next, select an option to let us know how we can make it right for you. You may be able to:
- Receive a voucher that you can use on a future eBay purchase (if shipping was free).
- Get a refund for the shipping cost (if you paid for shipping).
- Return the item for free and get a full refund if the listing offers returns.
- Let the seller know that you didn’t receive your item.

This is one of my concerns since I spent about $45 on the 3 packages to ship. Not to mention losing 3 sales over no fault of my own.
And I really feel for the buyer. They are probably excited to get this stuff and hoping it will arrive in time.

They got scanned but then the PO didn't do anything with them for several days. Everything else I shipped that day was fine but these are larger packages so maybe that's where the problem is.

tyler@ebay, does the seller have to refund the original shipping if the buyer chooses to return an item that misses the guaranteed delivery date? The OP's listing had calculated shipping paid by buyer, 30 day returns buyer pays.
@banana*shoe*boutique, the buyer may opt to keep the item and accept a refund of their shipping cost instead. eBay would cover that.

Thanks for the help! This was my question. I also thought if they leave negative feedback we are protected but I don't see that anywhere in the GTD help FAQs

It's there.

eBay will remove negative or neutral feedback regarding late deliveries if the seller met their handling time.
No tracking scans does not mean the package isn't moving. It means it wasn't scanned or the scans weren't registered somehow.
09-28-2018 12:44 PM
That doesn't mean anything.
