Apologies if this has been queried before I have searched high and low for the past 4hours and now very frustrated... so hoping someone may be able to help.
I've just subscribed in order to be able to create variation listings however I'm at a stumbling block when creating a listing with 3 attributes. I have top & pants sets in various colours and sizes. I can create attribute options for colour / top size / pant size. The issue I've got is each combination requires a quantity rather than each item.
Example: I have 1 medium top in red, 1 medium trousers and 1 large trousers in red. There would be two combinations available Red: Med+Med and Red: Med+Lrg. Currently I'd have to set both of those combination to 1qty
If then I sold Red: Med+Med, I'd have no top to fulfil the Red: Med+Lrg listing should that also sell.
Is there no way to quantity variations in the way where I could say 1 x Red M top, 1 x Med Trousers, 1 x Large Trousers and then have any combination selectable of what's in stock?
Keeping on top of what combinations are available manually becomes unmanageable quite quickly once there are multiple colour and size options.
Appreciate any help anyone can offer on this matter.

With multi-variation listings, you can manage your inventory right in the listing—as items sell, remaining quantities for each variation are automatically adjusted.
By default the variation setting is hidden on the listing form. Once you unhide the setting it will stick for future listings.
On the top right of the page click the settings menu (3 vertical dots) and toggle the variations slider if it's not already on.
Make sure you're working off a new listing, not a relist or sell similar from a listing without variations.
Beyond that it comes down to category; not every category supports variations.
If the category supports variations you'll find them in a non-intuitive, awkward placement on the listing form - below item specifics instead of above them. Make sure you set up variations before you fill out any of the IS.

You would have to set them each up as a different variation or each in a different listing. If you only have 1 of an item there is no way to offer an either/or options.

I'm not sure about the UK but in the US you don't have to subscribe to make a variations listing.
It is available for all to use.

I don't believe this can be accomplished with variations....
The only way I can think of is to offer the individual items and let the customer 'combine' them as they see fit.
You can't use the same top in multiple variations....
(without having to manually delete the "other" listing with the same top when it sells) the variations programming is not capable of what you are proposing
....unless i am missing something obvious.....
