I’m out of town and turned on my vacation setting. I have a few sales that say “shipment overdue” even though they sold during my away time. Is this going to affect my rating?

The thing is that they are supposed to automatically extend the handling time......based on your "away" date......so that you don't have to mail until you return.  So, presuming the items were bought during the "away" time, they shouldn't be overdue.......

That said, there are some exceptions..........2nd chance offers, etc.  and that it may take a few hours for estimated delivery times to update.......so not sure if  any of that applies here.......

You can't just put up an away notice. You have to hide your listings BUT if someone has your item on their watch list they can still buy the item.

I too am leaving on vacation this morning and I will put my store on hold and not allow any sales.  I have made offers to buyers in the past days. If anyone of these buyers purchases the item then it is going to be late and good old ebay will be right there to ding me.  Ebay is so helpful, NOT.  I have extended my shipping times so finger crossed.

Simple hide your listings..... Saves you from such problems.

And yes you will get dinged for such as late shipping.

Pretty sure they changed this to where you can no longer purchase when in time away unless you choose to allow it.

If hidden, even those on watch lists or in carts cannot finalize sales.

We were just in time away and kept getting emails telling us they could not purchase/finalize.  We had our listings hidden.

You would only change your handling time on All listings, if you did time away and allowed purchases (there are 2 time away settings).

You are responsible for any late deliveries, regardless.  If you want sales, extend your handling time, otherwise leave listings hidden.

It shouldn't "ding" us if we put ourselves in Vacation mode.

So does it, because I have a vaca coming up and I hate to hide listings / stop sales too because it will slow sales for months after I come back.  It's supposed to extend our handling times, eaby is supposed to take into account the vacation setting and not continue to process sales as normal, the way it should work is yes buyers can still make the purchase but the seller won't be required to ship until they return / the vacation timer expires...

Can anyone confirm these things?

And it would be nice if someone had actually tried it (what it says and what it does aren't always the same thing)

See my post.  We just recently came off time away.  Yes, the late shipments will count.

Can you confirm/or not that if one does time away (without hiding purchases) that ebay extends the handling time until your "come back" date and does not penalize a seller for late shipment?

You are saying your items were hidden and somehow purchases were made?

I am away as well. I put my dates in from when I was leaving and returning. I also marked the box that allows sales to be allowed while I was gone with a later shipping date. I now have overdue shipping items.  I talked to an eBay rep, explained it all. She said they were having technical problems and not to worry about it. We will see.

Actually you can.  You can put up to 15 days of away time and you can allow sales to continue during that time with a later shipping date. eBay has screwed this up on their end.

I am doing right now. I marked all the boxes, going, return, allow sales. I now have late shipping items. I talked to a rep and said they were having technical problems and not to worry. We will see.

No, I am saying they could not purchase when hidden, even if on a watch list or in a cart.  Buyers tried and could not.
