I noticed a few days ago a new view counter on my items and there was a pop-up about a new way to count views (is this new for everyone or have others already had this for awhile?).... and now many of my items have very little & some have even ZERO views...what gives? what is the point of listing if nobody can see my items anymore? 😞

Instead of displaying all time views, it's showing how many views listings received in the last 30 days. They also removed the false view counts (ie: search engine bots).
The view count is a hyperlink. You can click on that and a pop-up will appear so you can see a time period longer than 30 days if you want.
Just because nobody clicked on your listing in the last 30 days, that does not mean it is hidden from search.

I dont worry about "views"
I dont worry about "likes" on social media either.
Just because the counter is counting differently, doesnt mean no one saw the listings.
I would rather have sales than views.
Views in my mind, since I have no control over the number eBay shows, isnt an issue.

@wastingtime101 ok. thanks for that. that is the info stated on the pop-up...
so ...wow. it really is helpful to know that I get almost NO views & it's almost pointless to list much here anymore.... I get more views on my own websites (in 30 days) LOL!! and that is pretty incredible considering my websites are teensy tiny little islands on the internet & don't have "millions" of Ebay shoppers every day all day. hmmm. oh well. (sigh)
anyway, thanks again.

Keep in mind that views is not the best or only indicator of listing performance, although it can be helpful.
If an item has 40 views in the last month but no sales, that means there's something causing buyers to view your listing, but not go through with the purchase.
Views are not an indicator of visibility. You can go to the Performance > Traffic section of Seller Hub and evaluate impressions. Impressions are an indicator of how many times your item appeared in search (or some variation, like e-mails, buyer homepages, etc).
If your impressions are low, that could indicate low search placement or lack of visibility, perhaps a seasonal or long-tail item, or an overly saturated category, not using the right key words in title. There are many factors at play.
If impressions are high, but there are no views, that means something (price, size, color/pattern, photos, competitor listings, etc) that the buyer can see on the search page without clicking on the listing has caused them to pass on by your listing.

@wastingtime101 hmmm...ok. noted. thanks.

No prob. Hopefully I didn't make things more confusing for you. Sometimes external site data is more valuable than what you'll find on eBay.
For example, I've found that some of my product falls flat on eBay but flies off the shelf of another venue, and other product works the opposite where it flies out the door through eBay but I can't sell a unit on another site to save my life.
There are so many factors at play. There's no exact science to measure things. Just do the best you can with the information and tools available.

@wastingtime101 biggest factor here on Ebay is the fees are high & get higher all the time (especially as cost of shipping goes up and up) + every time Ebay changes something it results in having to spend more time on the Ebay WORKING (to figure out all the new stuff) = less pay for more work.
no thanks! rather focus on my own sites - feels more and more like I'm working for Ebay 😞 again, no thanks.
I know the less I do here = less sales but they are making it too much of a drag to even try.
thanks again 🙂

I don't believe they have worked all the "bugs" out yet, I have a couple of brand new listings that have watchers but 0 views! Just saying... give it time. Many ebay statistics have relavancy isdues and accuracy isdues. Hang in. Sales are all that really counts!

You can add an item to your watch list without ever viewing the listing. Ever notice the heart icon next to each item on the search page @shantynas? If not, you probably will now.
Edit: On some browsers it shows an eyeball with the word watch. On most browsers and the app it shows hearts.

Yes, but the point of views, at least for me shows interest... so the way ebay just randomly changes things makes real statistic impossible to figure! But ultimately all that matters are sales!

@shantynas yes..."sales are all that really counts" - of course.
....and that is the real problem >> NO SALES 😞
I wouldn't have taken the time to post about this in the forums if I was getting sales despite the low to ZERO views on my listings 😉

Watching and looking does not = views.... got it! Makes perfect sense!

I really used the views to help me decide how to continue listings. I depended on them and developed a strategy based on them. I depended on knowing the total views over time, and now eBay, has decided for me that I don't need to know and I suspect that eBay is trying to increase turn-over and not really trying to be helpful, or perhaps it is too hard for eBay programmers to keep up with the counts... I hate the new reporting on views and wish the old method could be chosen. I mean there is no real reason why not allow both "views".
