Using Social Media to Attract Buyers...is it working?
My reply: It use to.
I Facebook, use Twitter, and Pintrest to promote my listings. In the past, this seemed to generate alot of sales for me, now nothing seems to work.
I am setting more goals to list 20 new things every day. Do you self-promote your listings and if yes, are you seeing a difference?

Yeah, we all tried to stay loyal exclusively but it seems that their loyalties went elsewhere.
Good Luck and may your sales will increase wherever you list Asap!

Somehow I just can't imagine how one would ever consider that to be the most profitable, reliable, effective business model.

Here is my entire statement:
I am willing to do the work, but I can not work without reward. I wanted to remain exclusively loyal to Ebay, but when nothing you do works anymore, it's time to consider other options.
Most Sellers who sell online would most likely prefer to sell on one platform if that single platform generates enough income for them to sustain their income and provide growth. It is time consuming and a balancing act trying to juggle multiple platforms. For "me" if I could do well on eBay, "I" would choose not to sell elsewhere.

I too get annoyed with the My Pillow Guy, the rotation is too frequent; however he must me doing something right,: getting sales, since he is continuing to pay for the advertisement. getitright

Yesterday and this morning, I tweeted and Facebook some listings. I then copied and pasted the links as to where these tweets and posts would directed my potential Buyer (s) and OMG ..........the Facebook post was routing me to another Seller of the same product ........and on some occasions to a totally different platform.
Here is some homework:
Please someone else try this out and verify if your generated links directs Buyers to your product or someone else's.

Okay - I dont use social media very much - but I tried changing my descriptions so that all my sentences ended with ', Dude' - such as 'This is a really great T-shirt, Dude' - and I got a whole bunch of teenagers buying my stuff so i guess it worked.
I also tried ending all my sentences with ', Eh?' - and I was overrun with Canadians and people who were hard of hearing.

I've observed this many times. It seems that links generated by eBay, whether it's on FB, or even Google links, are NOT direct links to your listings, but are links to the "product".
The only exception is if you link specifically to the eBay ID of your listing. But other links often times DO reroute.
Very often I find one of our items on Google, from the brand of items that ONLY WE SELL, and once you click the link, it takes you to another seller of a similar product, but a different brand.
It seems related to eBay's "structured data" and it believes it's a "comparable" product, and these links are to "products" rather than "your listing".
Very discouraging, to say the least. EBay tries to blame visibility issues on Google in situations like this, but eBay has had support to handle dynamically changing links for years; the difference nowadays is eBay actually controls the traffic once the link is clicked and sends the customers to where eBay wants the traffic to go.
With that said, in response to the question of the OP, yes traffic DOES help your placement on eBay. It's actually one of the factors that make a bigger difference these days. But as mentioned above, you do have to be very careful about what links are used. EBay has that bad habit now of showing advertised links rather than your own products. Make sure it's a link specifically to the eBay ID of your product, on the "normal" eBay listing page. The URL should be in a format similar to: https://www.ebay.com/itm/<number>
If it's one of the newer listing pages, or if it's ebay.com/i/ (instead of ebay.com/itm), do NOT share that link! As it may be to others listings if eBay decides for it to be!

I agree!
Although I practically live on Instagram and show my items for sale clearly are for sale,
I always in life then let the buyers there or people in general come to me which they will do if interested or curious.
But Instagram for me (a seller) is so much more than selling.
I have fun and interact in such a creative way with photography and videos.
Its the best artistic expressive platform for me....
The benefit is I do make sales.

Instagram works best for me. But I guess it depends on what you're selling.
