This makes no sense. The guidelines from FDA just state that you can't have an applicator that touches the skin be resold & that makes sense (kind of gross too). But these are atomizer SPRAY'S. Also, the FDA states it just needs to be in it's in ORIGINAL container/bottle. There's nothing that states you cannot sell used cologne. EBay please FIX this!!
Also, be ware that if you're using the collectibles or vintage category I tried this last month & although it DOES work, the fee's were considerably more than normal. Not sure why?? I've never had a months fee's come to anything over $25 & the month I used the "Collectibles" category my fee's for selling 3 colognes were $95!!!!

In general I don't think anyone will buy used fragrances, no matter what format they use. It's just not fair. They will expect a full bottle of each without moditications.

What???
People buy & sell used cologne all the time?? I've been doing it for years & so have others on eBay. You sell them as USED & describe how much is still remaining (if the bottle is not see through)

I already know about the policy. This was never an issue until they removed the "Condition" of Used for fragrances. This was a recent change even though the policy may have been posted they either softened their stance on it at one time or another or just "caught" the mistake.

Used perfume is not allowed to be sold on eBay, no matter how much is in the bottle. Period.

Actually there was a good market for vintage partially filled perfume bottles until fairly recently when Ebay decided to not allow the sale of used fragrances, as seen in the post above.

No, used fragrances is a lucrative market. I sold them successfully from time to time here until the change in the rules.

How do you get a Used Fragrance off of someone and back into the bottle?

Well that's a huge loss to sellers AND eBay!!! Since I'm old, this is the ONLY place I've been able to buy some of my favorite colognes of many years ago that have been discontinued. I'm VERY sorry to hear this and thanks for letting us know.

It's a ridiculous rule that comes & goes. i've been seeing other posts like this from as far back as 2013 & then eBay allows it again giving the option of "used" as a category then they close it down for a year & then open it again. I've been selling opened bottles "used" colognes for years w/no problems. This is obviously a knee jerk reaction to the COVID era we're in now. I'm sure as soon as COVID is somewhat over they'll allow it again.

This changed policy is either due to Covid -19 or the new managed payments. If you are in the new managed payments system, there are some things you cannot sell anymore because the company who manages the payments does not allow it. I can no longer sell coins and paper money for this reason.
If that is the case, you can open another account without an ebay store and sell them that way.
But if it is a policy change, there is nothing you can do about it.

So is eBay not the company who manages the payments with Managed Payments?

Hi thanks for our reply!
I don't have a "store" I just sell/buy as an individual. Like a lot of individuals in the fragrance community I'll buy colognes & like them but not love them & want to unload them but of course I don't want to throw them away. It's like buying a used car, let the other person purchase it retail & take on the depreciation & then swoop in & purchase the bottle when it still has 50, 70 or 90% still left. It's a GREAT way to save money & not waste the fragrance because someone else may want it.
eBay really did us a big disservice by removing the ability to sell opened/used bottles of fragrance. Being afraid of COVID when the mechanism of the "spray" atomizer is a distance away from the skin, it's not like it's a 1980's roll on deodorant we're selling used.

According to USPS, Canadapost and courier guidelines there are restrictions for mailing perfume etc based on composition(contains alcohol) or if it is aerosol form. See attached.

It's the same grief one gets when someone arrives at the airport and bottles in carry-on.
It's been part of eBay's policy for years but enforcement has been wishy-washy.
