Really ebay? I am actually thinking about closing my premium store, what a joke. It's like a slap on the face.
I have 300K in inventory and one sale for $17 in the last 3 days.

My first thought was that there are probably a lot of sellers who are down-grading, or quitting, and they need to counter that with a gimmicky promotion. Don't fall for it!

See the Subscription Fee Table below for discount amounts.I did notice this one, unlike the one I got suckered into a few months ago, actually gives the full "promotion window" (ie the 2 months) to cancel rather than the ONE month I was given to do the same.
When I asked why I was offered a 2 month reduced rate promo but only given one month to cancel, Trinton's "explanation" was that by accepting the offer I was contracting to a full year's subscription with the first 2 months at a reduced rate and that if I cancelled then I wasn't 'entitled' to a reduced rate for 2 months. Erm no, I signed up for a TRIAL period of 2 months TYVM. I couldn't back out of that alleged "contract" fast enough (especially given the difference between a Premium and an Anchor).
This is why it is ALWAYS important to read the terms of ANY promo Ebay sends out. What it put in the headline it to grab your attention. But it is up to us to read what the promo is about and understanding it BEFORE we accept. In this particular case it reads as follows:
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
For sellers who sign up for an annual subscription: if you would like to discontinue your discounted subscription, you must cancel your promotional subscription or revert back to your original store tier within 30 days of subscribing to the eBay store to avoid paying an early termination fee. Terminating your promotional subscription after the end of the Promotion Subscription Period but before fulfilling your one-year store subscription commitment will result in an early termination fee.
It's crazy out there and each of us needs to be REALLY REALLY careful to read EVERYTHING available BEFORE accepting a promo Ebay sends out. As we can all see there are some SIGNIFICANT gotcha's with this promo if you don't know they are coming. But it is our responsibility to read this stuff and unfortunately many do not, I've done it myself, and then we are mad at Ebay. But the fact is, Ebay is being upfront with this information, we just sometimes assume we know what it says or don't think it is important to read the details for whatever reason we may have.

If a study from a few years ago is correct, eBay could put "if you cancel this subscription after 30 days, all your eBay inventory, your personal assets, and your firstborn will be become the property of eBay", and 98% of people would agree to those terms.

I got this promo too. I got out my magnifying glass ,read the small print, and hit delete.

@mypostingid15 The 2nd ID here is just about toast ... 6 sales all month and 4 of those were only because we listed some very rare collectible items which all sold their first auction listing cycle. Without those we're talking 2 sales on the month.
The pattern that seems to be emerging is only completely new listings are getting visibility ...

My poor little starter store hasn't had a sale all month (so far) and mainly because I refuse to throw the good stuff onto an ID that is obviously not being seen. It's been downhill for it since January.
eta: It was going great guns as a non store and getting promos left & right, then suddenly the freebies dried up so I upgraded to a starter and it's been crickets ever since (and not a freebie in sight either).
My daughter on the other hand decided to downgrade to a starter from a basic as she didn't have the time or inclination right now to source new stuff for listings, and ever since has been getting at least one, usually 2 free listing promos a month. Go figure.

@myjunqueyourtreasure Believe me I know EXACTLY what you are talking about ... the other ID was built from the Everyday Rate plan up to the Basic Store level and low 5 figures sales in 12 months.
1. Then the GTC mandate occurred in March.
2. April sales dropped 50%
3. May sales continued to drop despite running my normal quartrely Promoted Listing Campaign
4. End of May dropped the store to the 100 level
5. June saw 5 sales total
I have slowly diverted items off that account to the main account and "elsewhere". If does not improve through the end of July I'll make more decisions about it but like you, I am reluctant to put more good stuff on it if eBay is killing it.

I go with the Month to Month subscription, no waiting ... I just wonder what the eBay bean counters are doing as they watch more and more Sellers downsize and end listings and then DELETE them without Relisting. The venue doesn't need the impact of one or two mega Sellers to jump ship when they are getting the same thing from many smaller Sellers doing the same thing ... it all adds up.

All I can say is that I actually sold more on another site than I did on Ebay so far this month. I just looked at my paypal amt - down 60% from what I usually have in there at this time of the month. Really pathetic.

@drinkwine1204 wrote:I completely agree. Got the same promo to upgrade my basic to premium. Ummm, Hard Pass !! I am counting the days until I can dump this basic store and go back to my little starter store, 100 listings. I used to get 2 free listing promos every month for my little starter store. Since upgrading in Feb to a basic, I have not received one free listing promo.
Stupid me, though I would have more sales with more listings. All I got was increased costs/fees and decreased sales. 5 sales for the month, day 20 and two of those were best offers, very little $$.
Very likely I will box remaining inventory in 3 or 4 months and be done here. Just too much stress and clutter in my house for a few $$$.
these are my thoughts exactly I have downgraded from premium to basic to starter. I am saving so much money on fees I will never go back. I do not have any reason for a store. The free sipping supplies was the only benefit and they are now too over priced to be a benefit of having a store,.

I was month-to-month for years and last year I took them up on one of the subscription offers and when I did the math, and it made sense over the course of a year. It was a substantial enough savings.
Now, because of GTC, I don't need the premium. If I incur a little bit in insertion fees (my avg is about 300 listings), it'll still be less than the premium subscription, and I'll run some more auctions (which I barely do now)

I'd have to agree with you on that. However that then doesn't make it Ebay's fault but those that won't take the time to protect themselves by reading what they are signing up for. The offer's aren't misleading, that would be different. The terms are clear and there where anyone can see it if they take the time to read the terms.
