--Final Update, October 28--
The category changes announced in our Fall Seller Update have been completed.
Now that all category changes are complete, while you might still see some adjustments to searches, it is okay to update or edit your listings without concerns of losing data or having it moved again.
We appreciate your feedback on this roll-out. We'll continue to adjust the process based on the input we’ve received here, and we'll take all of these suggestions into consideration for future updates.
As this project is now complete the post is being locked from further comments.
Resources and observations
We’ve heard from you that updating your Item Specifics in time for the February 2022 requirement date may be a challenge.
A useful tool that may help is located in the Seller Hub under Listing>Active. There is a drop-down box labeled ‘Download’ which will generate an Excel document for ‘Missing Required or Recommended Item Specifics’. You can read more about this tool here.
Should you come across any inaccuracies within the new Item Specifics we ask that you report those directly to sdsupport@ebay.com so our team can investigate. Outside of that, please share suggestions as to changes you'd like to see going forward here, selecting the Categories and Item Specifics option.
---Update as of October 19th---
We apologize for this delayed update. Thank you for your patience while our teams worked to finalize category changes.
All listings have been moved to their final destination categories. You may now proceed with checking your categories, revising items, and updating item specifics where needed.
Some item specifics have been renamed, and the value you originally provided has been copied over to the new item specific, so you don’t need to re-add these item specifics. We encourage you to update your listings with item specifics that are showing as “Required Soon.” These will become required on February 22, 2022.
All other item specifics are either Recommended or Optional. Learn more about item specifics.
Some categories were retired and replaced by product-based categories. You and your buyers can still find the items you’re looking for. Simply browse to the product category of your choice and use the filters to refine your search.

---Update as of October 14th---
The work continues on this move and is progressing according to plan. We are on track and anticipate all category changes for your listings to be complete by end of day tomorrow (10.15). Thank you for your patience while our teams implement these changes.
---Update as of October 13th---
We continue to work through this change and thank you for your patience as our teams work through it. We wanted to provide answers to some top concerns and questions:
Why are Gallery Plus fees being charged for items that were previously free?
We determined that a technical issue impacted a small number of listings, which resulted in incorrect charges (including Gallery Plus, subtitles, and insertion fees) for some sellers. The issue has been fixed and we will be crediting impacted sellers as quickly as possible. No calls to Customer Service are necessary as credits will be issued automatically.
The eBay Standard Envelope shipping option is grayed out and I can’t select it. When will the issue be resolved?
The eBay Standard Envelope shipping option issue resulted from the category changes update and has been resolved. eBay Standard Envelope is now available in applicable categories if your item meets the established criteria.
Should I edit my listings if they’re in the wrong category, have been moved to another category, or have wrong or missing item specifics?
No. Recent category changes require updates to many thousands of servers and data changes to nearly every aspect of our platform. This level of adjustment takes time, which is why we asked for your patience while the process runs. We expect most data updates to be completed within 48 hours, but can they take up to a week (i.e., through Oct. 19). After that, if you have an item specific in mind that you think would work well for your listing, please consider adding it as a custom item specific.
Why isn’t my item coming up in search?
The category change update is still in process. We anticipate search issues will resolve when we complete most data updates during the next 24-48 hours.
There are more item specifics now than ever before. Do I need to fill in all of them?
No. Item specifics that you have already filled in will be maintained as the category moves are completed during the next week. In addition, new soon-to-be-required item specifics are being added and will become required by Feb 22, 2022. As always, the more item specifics you fill out, the better visibility your listing has to buyers.
For Parts & Accessories, when will fitment/compatibility charts start working again?
There was an issue with parts compatibility not working properly as the category changes rolled out that has been resolved. You should now be able to see the options to add fitment compatibility when editing your listings.
-----------------------------------------------------------
We’re updating some of our categories and item specifics to make your listings easier to find.
Starting October 12th, you’ll see updates to the following categories. Learn more about category changes →
Collectibles & Art
Jewelry
Musical Instruments
Parts & Accessories
Sporting Goods
As these updates go into effect, you may see temporary impacts to your listing experience or to the visibility of listings in the affected categories.
This is a result of listings transitioning to the updated item specifics and category structures. Your affected listings should return to normal within 48 hours, though you may see irregularities on some listings for up to a week. We recommend checking your item specifics and categories in affected listings after these updates are complete.
These updates also include new item specifics in the above categories, which will be required February 22, 2022. Starting today, these item specifics will be available as you list, with the “Required Soon” tag. Learn more →
Keep an eye on this page over the coming days—we’ll be sharing up-to-date information on affected categories and listings, and answering any questions you have.

I have at least 9 Gallery Plus fees at this time that have been incorrectly charged to my account. How soon will I be credited for your error.

Found another site besides Ruby Lane and etsy to buy and sell dolls and other items.... MERCARI. I don't know anything about them but am looking for new venues to buy and sell on. If anyone finds more sites please post on ebay message board. I don't think ebay even reads these it is just a place to vent for those of us who are so upset about what they have done. LETS FIND NEW PLACES TOGETHER!!!!!

Is this according to plan? Why won't eBay address this specific problem that was directly caused by removing categories?
By removing doll categories, I cannot browse antique dolls, so I’m forced to type in “antique doll” instead and am met with a sea of randomness. There’s not one antique doll in this screenshot and there’s 300,000+ listings of the same randomness.
There is NO WAY to browse. I haven't even gotten a copy paste answer for this.

I just tried to BULK edit, your new update Item Specifics, on 50 items currently listed(one page of my total listings)....eBay tried to charge me $8.75 for the bulk edit....what???...I did NOT update them- I backed out of the page...Sorry...eBay....$8.75....NO WAY !

Yes, in nearly all categories, they removed antique and vintage subcategories. Example: Dolls & Bears removed ALL Antique and Vintage categories, meaning that 1980's Barbies, American Girl, LOL Dolls, Reborn dolls are all smashed with French Bebe's, Tetes, German Characters, Schoenhuts, Vintage Barbies, Vintage Cissy, etc.
It is the belief of thousands of eBayers that eBay is purposely removing Antique Collectors out, in favor of Big Box retailers of modern merch, IE trying to be more like Amazon.
This is evident by many factors, including their terminology for "new" subcategories (example: adding "Doll Playsets" as their only other doll subcategory, which is a JOKE to antique doll people, as Playsets are for modern dolls; yet another example of pushing Antique Dealers out).

I guess ebay is only concerned about categories for complainers, i.e, rising star (make another complaint), now you are an adventurer (make another complaint) I don't know what is next...Trailblazer, Scout, Thrill seeker. Apparently they only need refined categories for complainers not items for sale. Jamie Iannone you are doing a TERRIBLE JOB as CEO. SO SAD. Lets see if I get a new category name after this complaint.

absolutely agree....I had my dolls searches saved now am trawling through rubbish...china rubbish...yo've lost me...Ill go over to Ruby Lane and pay bit more for the priviledge of something orderly....utter rubbish ebay..

I sell mostly vintage postcards and photos and noticed many of these problems around 5am two days ago. Fortunately I'm seeing things being fixed. I expected a few issues when the fall seller update was announced and had planned for the worst. While checking the forums this post was at the top. The short bullet points answered most of my questions and I'm hoping for the best. I feel the frustration that many of the commenters have related. I've decided the best action for me is to Keep Calm and List On. I wish all my fellow sellers luck with their issues and Q4 sales. It's a busy time to be dealing with changes.

Thanks, I actually meant to tag a blue in my query
A lot of posters have been mentioning that the Antiques Category is being removed ?
Can you verify please ?

Today's ecommercebytes website has an article by Ina Steiner about this dated Oct. 12 titled "eBay Moves Collectibles Around Resulting in Higher Fees." At the bottom of the article an Oct. 13th update contains a 41 minute video by Don Heiden titled "eBay's Fall Update Is Already a Disaster..." from the Auction Professor channel on YouTube. I found the article, the video, and the reader comments interesting, if somewhat disturbing.
One new thing I learned was that after Sept. 29th to Oct. 9th (a 10-day gap) new "listings on eBay won't export out of eBay to Hip due to an eBay API issue." I'm guessing that sellers who sell on eBay and other sites might see problems with inter-site updates and maybe with automatic deletions when an item listed on multiple sites sells on one and isn't automatically deleted on the other(s). I only sell on eBay, so possibly sellers on several sites can provide more information if there are problems.

Trying a new approach. Used the leave feedback icon on the right side of listings to rate my search experience a a 1 meaning horrible

p.s. one response per hour is what they allow on the feedback form for search experience.

I wonder if the Fall Update torpedoed several Seller Hub -> Research reports. I'm not sure if it is also affecting Terapeak product research, or if Terapeak will still be able to combine pre-Oct. 12 data with new changed category data. Restock Advice is being phased out. Here's a view of my Listing Improvements Report (showing zero listings) which is also being phased out:
==============================================================================
Starting Oct 28 2021, the Listing Improvement and the Restock Advice pages will be phased out. You can view actionable insights for your listings on the Seller Hub listing page
We didn't find any listings for you right now. Please try again later.
===============================================================================
The Terapeak Sourcing Insights Report is now nonsensical. Where each line used to have a Postcard category in the Category Name field, it now just says "Topographical Postcards in Postcards" or "Non-Topographical Postcards in Postcards" rendering the information useless. Here's a partial view with most
column headings missing because I didn't take the time to type them in:
================================================================================
Category Name
Topographical Postcards in Postcards | 66,066 | 60,523 | 1.09 | 11.98% | 7 | 0.00% | 83.87% | |
Topographical Postcards in Postcards | 19,058 | 12,656 | 1.51 | 10.32% | 7 | 0.00% | 76.80% | |
Topographical Postcards in Postcards | 5,522 | 5,146 | 1.07 | 10.73% | 7 | 0.00% | 78.94% | |
Topographical Postcards in Postcards | 38,617 | 27,181 | 1.42 | 9.74% | 7 | 0.00% | 78.96% |

@bottlejackbuddy wrote:Why does eBay keep changing things that have worked just fine for decades?
Because they are eliminating the antique, vintage and small sellers. They don't make any money from individual sales, only mass sales.

More unhelpful changes that will if anything stop sales from happening and are being done just so eBay can say they changed things. Thanks for nothing. Literally, since most weeks that's what I sell, nothing.
