Update on USPS test

OK, last time I tossed the package in the bin at about 10:00 AM and the scan didn't show received until after 11:20 PM.  This time I took the package in at about 9:30 AM and had the lady scan it in at the counter.  The system wasn't updated until 2:00 PM, but the tracking now shows the proper time for the acceptance.  So I'm probably going to wait in line and get my packages scanned from now on.

@professor-t

I stand at the counter and get a scan.

If you drop at the blue box on a friday, may not get a scan all weekend.

Re: Update on USPS test

The "big blue bin" items are never scanned until they arrive at the sorting facility. Be sure to use SCAN form if you decide to stand in line.

Re: Update on USPS test

Our rural PO bulk updates all scans in the evening, all at once. Carrier scans are in real time and will show up in a few seconds.  On the rare occasion I go to the PO, I'll get the acceptance scan. It will not show up until around 22 or 23.00 our time (Central).  Your PO may do the same.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: Update on USPS test

Not sure if this is relevant to the topic but look at one of my tracking scans here Tracking #:9400116901449700262412

I shipped it on 1/30. And zero scans until arrival on 2/6. You can already guess that the buyer was upset at this the whole time. It pretty much makes the tracking useless because the item is already at the buyer's door when the first scan was made.

Re: Update on USPS test

Mine show a pickup scan "USPS picked up item" shortly after pickup from the blue box here approx 5pm, and then an arrival scan "Arrived at USPS Regional Origin Facility" a couple of hours later.

Is actually more reliable, consistent, and quicker to get a scan than dropping at PO counter, or in PO APC or PO blue boxes (even when dropped in PO boxes hours before opening)

Maybe your label wouldnt scan. I see carriers type in the number by hand if it wont scan because otherwise they have to account for the package & why it was out for delivery but they never delivered it.

You should try getting a few labels scanned in for acceptance and see how it goes. That way if theres a problem with how your label was printed then you will know that something needs fixing or cleaning.

Re: Update on USPS test

Agreed sam! I know the girls at our PO and they routinely go back and empty the bin and scan the items when they're between the big rush times. They told me 2 yrs ago - I don't have to stand in line just to get the packages scanned - and in 2 years - they've never failed me!

Re: Update on USPS test

The only things of mine (on both accounts) that don't go into the blue mailboxes are things that don't fit. On those, I go inside and put them down the chute. Doesn't matter on this account (as I don't use tracking) but I have 100% scan rate on my other account. It's very rare that my items aren't scanned the same day.
