Am I the only one noticing this?.....I today looked at my total page views for Saturday the 7th and it now reads 78% LESS page views than it indicated just yesterday (the 8th)..this happens all the time for me. Anybody have a clue how this can be?

Page views have never been totally accurate.

Ebay has lots of inconsistent or non-comparable numbers. Some compare 30 days, some are 90 days, some are revolving nothing matches up! I have a few times requested "whatever you do please be consistent across the platform". Compare apples to apples and use consistent terminology, compare sales number the same time intervals etc. One other: for example USPS shipping options need to have same nomenclature as USPS throughout the site. Just avoids errors and confusion. Maybe someday.

The 'Page View' graph and detailed report has always been off by 100's of 1000's; I have 400 items listed. I wrote down the 'page views' that shows on 'each item (from page views, watchers in 'active listings) and then again 7 days later. (note when seeing 'page views' here, it is the ones that ACTUALLY CLICKED on the item)
Average was 20 (some 3, some 40 etc.) 8000 a week, calcs to 34,000+/- in a month. The graph always showed 300,000, 500,000 etc.
My conclusion:
The 'graph' of page views shows the following: If my item was on page 23 of 75, but customers never get past page 10..it still counts since it CAME UP IN THE SEARCH. Therefore, your item is 'on a page coming to a theater near you', but never really 'opened' ie. CLICKED ON.
After all, that's what really matters, how many people actually 'SEE' the item, like the description, price and picture enough to 'CLICK ON IT'.
